Since the resignation of Network Leader by Dark Lord of the Sith, there has been some major restructuring going on behind the scenes. Some of you may have already noticed, but it's time for everyone to know.
The responsibilities of a network leader were way too much to expect from one man. The way that DLotS coped was highly commendable, but regardless of who we put in his place, the result would either be exactly the same, or much worse. The workload is way too much. As a result, the Network Leader position is no more. Instead, we have split the work amongst many departments. This will ensure a higher level of activity and efficiency from all areas, and no chance of neglection. The departments, leaders and their responsibilities are as follows;

Mastermind is still our Lord, King, Overseer and Master. Bow down to him or consequences will ensue.

The Server Department will be led by jnengland

This department is responsible for:
- Setting up servers for the network.
- Maintaining the servers and solving any problems affecting the hosted sites, prioritizing the Revora network.
- Keeping the rest of the network informed about the server events.

The Development Department will be led by Dark Lord of the Sith and 2playgames

This department is responsible for:
- Creation and maintenance of new technology for the network, such as Rust (A generic user-driven CMS), ReVault (file hosting portal), a new MasterNews and the Network Bar.
- Development of any technology requested by other groups.
- Creation and maintenance of websites for divisions (or just helping division people with that).
- Maintaining the forum skin, developing graphics and icons, etc.

The Network Maintenance Department is led by Vortigern

This department is responsible for:
- Maintaining and updating the contents from Revora.net, Network Bar and any other Revora administrative website.
- Supporting divisions with content.
- Taking over any division or strategic site until The Recruitment Department finds someone to run it.
- Taking over The Recruitment Department if the leader of that group resigns.
- Taking over any other Revora administrative group until The Recruitment Department finds someone to run it.

The Hosting Department is led by Omegabolt

This group is responsible for:
- Revora hosting support.
- Revora hosting site(s).
- Revora hosting policies.
- Update hostees in the network bar.

The Recruitment Department is led by Banshee

This group is responsible for:
- Hiring people to fill groups with leaders or replacing leaders.
- Helping other divisions to hire staff when requested.
- Overseeing all divisions and hiring staff for understaffed areas (in conjunction with the leader).
- Hiring interested people to create new divisions
- Recruiting external sites, mods and projects to join the network.

And finally The Community and Public Relationship Department is led by Hybrid and Caspa 101

This group is responsible for:
- Organization of the forum.
- Moderation, punishment and banning.
- Ensurance and promotion of activities within the forums, promoting events, contests anywhere in the forums.
- Promoting of Revora on other communities.
- Promotion of the internal communication of Revora events through news and mass mail (if necessary)
- Speaking in the name of Revora outside the network.

Just remember, most of that weight was solely on DLotS shoulders at one point. Now that the weight has been fairly distributed, you can expect things to go a lot smoother. The departments will be recruiting staff to help out with the workload, either by advertising positions or by approaching individual members, so keep your eyes open for those opportunities. We thank you all for reading this news feed. Any further questions you have will be answered quickly by a department leader, so don't be shy.
Hostile is a cunt.

Thought I'd have that here to save time.

It sounds sensible. Hopefully, the next few years will be smooth sailing, so to speak.

Now we all can see how much respect DLotS deserves for not letting Revora fall into shambles.

Now that everything is evenly balanced, I'm hoping for a few good years of smooth maintenance of the boards.

Also, Congratulations Vort for getting the job! :p

Wow...I never really understood what it was that DlotS did. That's pretty significant.

This topic should probably be pinned, that way when we have more news, the responsibilities of our leaders are still easy to find. Also, when new people come, they'll be able to understand how the forum is organized if it catches their attention, which it will be more likely to do if it's pinned.

As far as I know, DLotS quit because everyone was fussing amongst themselves and not trying to do much of anything. He probably had to work his ass off just to keep the forums in a usable and stable condition.

EDIT: I agree, pinning the topic would be for the best.

This is a news forum, not simply a forum announcements forum. And, as a news forum, if you pin a topic, this topic won't get out from the top of the news. The correct thing is to make a copy of this topic at Feedback and Suggestions and pin that one (and unpin some topics there). And unpin this one, of course.

I might also add that Mastermind, while still the overall leader, does not really involve himself in day-to-day business outside his own department (or maybe he will, as any staff member can, but he won't have any more decisive power than the others). He will use his root powers when neccessary, for example if another department leader needs to be fired or two departments can't decide about something.

How you have all these lovely people up and running. Who's job is it to fix Ralert? or at least remove the 2 links to it.

OK, my first job in my new capacity. I'll get on it in the near future. :good:

EDIT: Once someone tells me what Ralert is and what the problem with it is. I'll post up a problems and requests thread in my little subforum and someone can explain there. And here it is.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Link does not work for the average human member.

Ralert is the hosting info site for Creative Projects.
Problem: the hosting info page is 404 (and has been for 2 years+).

So both Hosting and Maintenence do the Network Bar? (Says so up there...) As yesterday I made the C&C section up to date.

I suppose Hosting only makes sure all hostees are listed (and at the correct location) and Maintenance does the more general updating.

I don't know if that's the best way to go, but we'll have to find these kind of things out as we go along. We need some time to determine exactly what belongs in which department

So both Hosting and Maintenence do the Network Bar? (Says so up there...)

It also says so backstage, if you'd been paying attention  Maintanence are responsible for the Network Bar actually working. Hosting are responsible for the addition and removal of content.
