Ukraine lost 36% of her industrial production due to crisis, the price of steel has lowered, people are one step from starving there.

read this article from Czech reporter on Ukraine:

http://aktualne.cent...phtml?id=633533

Of the 52 million Ukrainians, more than 6 million work in Europe - from Russia to Portugal.

"If it wasn't for the money my daughter sends from the Czech Republic, I don't know how we would make ends meet. I miss her very much. But we wouldn't even be able to buy food or pay the rent and heating. And everything is getting more expensive now," says the 72-year-old woman, adding that almost every family in Ternopol has someone in Europe.

Ukraine is one of the poorest European countries and there were 3 (faminime) crisis: in 1920's, 1930's and 1990's.

This should be blamed on America, and might have some Russia to do with it. Lets see, Russia dried Ukraine clean in the Soviet days and starved literally millions, then finished off by slaughtering thousands of innocent men, and America will most likely refuse helping because of some shitty reason, most likely "We don't help Communists."

Americans need to get the stick they have out of their asses and stop trying to destroy communism. Instead of being the World's Baby-sitter by shooting anyone that comes into their cross-hairs, they should try helping nations instead of obliterating them into submission, worsening the situation.

Wow, a Texan looking for a diplomatic solution. Wonders never cease. ;) Seriously, though, he's totally right. The USA has the power and the influence, though not currently the wealth, to help the world's poorer nations no end. Even assuming that America gets back on track after this little recession, we can be pretty sure they still won't go around being the world's benefactor in any less aggressive fashion than we have today. The USA, for the sake of the world, needs to elect a philanthropist president. I pin very few hopes in Obama for this.

Heh, don't worry Vort - no doubt Britain will be the philanthrope nation; it's a sure bet we'll be seeing a lot more of those people on our green and pleasant shores as a result of this... :good:

To be honest, the USA can't afford to have a philanthrope for a president. I dare say the people wouldn't approve of it either. In my eyes, each country needs to get all its own people out of poverty, then work outwards.

The big guys in the economy puts their problems on sub-firms below them, and if they got someone below them, they send their troubles to them. Its a bit like a military hierarchy, send the suicidal orders down until theres nobody below to delegate it to.

this way, we in the west won't be as affected as fresher economies, but we won't make friends this way either. I wouldn't count on Russia being able to withstand as well as the rest of the west though, but they probably will do better than a lot of the post soviet countries.

Its simple:the US never lost a war.Remember it loosing a war?Nope.

As the Bush mentality would be: "You're either with us,either against us".

Simple as that.

Plus,I bet that the US owns several nations money in value of more than 150 billion US dollars.I bet.

I don't have exact numbers, but I know that the US is (1) filthy rich and (2) that all this money is basically a loan.

Vietnam. The Alamo. The Bay of Pigs. The War of 1812. America isn't infallible. It really annoys me when people just assume America is invincible. All you have to do is either a) dig some holes and put spikes in them or b) be Canadian.

The Alamo was a battle between the seperate nation of Texas and Mexico. Technically not America's war.

Well, OK, but now that Texas is part of the USA you have to deal with their baggage too. Texas is like a girlfriend with a crazy (M)ex(ico).

Looking at what the US spends on their military, they have a lot of money. You can be in debt and rich, as long as you have the money in your pockets, regardless of whether it's really yours.
