Hi ,for months I've been working on a Heavily Scripted LOTR BFME2 map
It works in a pure unmodified game or with your mod !!

It contains all the famous Places in Middle-Earth
It is a 7 Player Skirmish Map
Men has two Possible Start positions - at Minas Tirith and at Helms Deep
The map is Scripted as well ---

You can win by getting Frodo to Mount Doom
You can Call eomer for Reinforcements at Helm's Deep
Tree-beard can lead an attack on Isengard's Dam
The eagles MAY help at the Black Gate
As I don't want to Spoil the Suprises I wont Reveal ALL
To activate these Scripts just look at the movie !!

The map is for BFME2 , It is now part of the MOD : Power Of the Ring !

COMMENTS / SUGGESTIONS

I would like comments and Suggestions to be as civilized
and constructive as possible

I will like comments on
1. Gameplay
2.Script Work
3.Balance
4.Texturing /Beautification
5.Other

Eg dont say - It sucks ,
BUT say It could use more trees
It has a game mechanics flaw eg elves go through a wall
The game crashes when so and so happens !!


This is because I really want to improve to give a better product

PS the one at 3rd age is basically the unscripted one
Will transfer to 3rd age once perfected which is what this
topic is for

It looks sort of monotextured...
Maybe add more textures to each area instead of just using one.

Texturing is usually what makes a map stand out from other maps ;)

P.S. Learned that from m@tt's tutorial :p

Yeah I know The TOP VIEW is mis-leadinglooks quite different when ingame
Which region (from the Screenshots ) needs work ?

True ,True True .As you Know Texturing and AutoEdge in/out
Drastically slow down a computer and mine is pretty fast as is
so I left this for the absolute last .This can be done with a few strokes of
the mouse ;)

I plan to open up EA's Maps and see what Textures they used for each region .

I like comments on the script work as well as there are over 30 scripted Events
in game that increase value of the game-play .You can win via different
methods .

Examples of this are

Calling Eomer and Gandalf
Moria and the watcher -- my favorite
The Eagles at Black Gate
The last march of the Ents
Frodo and the Ring at Mount Doom
The splitting of men faction at Helms Deep and Minas Tirith

New Elven Hero
1. Elven Magic Arrow - Transforms units into Birds
2. Entanglement - An Enemy Hero is Covered with vines
3. Elven wizardry - An Enemy Hero is transformed into a Tree

Helm's Deep needs some work ADD more walls.

Thanks for the suggestion .

It currently has the Deeping wall which blows up , The outer keep wall with MAIN gate,
and the inner keep wall with gate .

I tried to give a basic feel like the movies i.e you defend the outer wall
and the deeping wall but if destroyed you fall back to the inner keep

What other wall (s) it may need that and where to put ?

As I am not too good at putting EA's jigsaw of a helm deep together
I used terrain to make the walls , This makes them indestructable
except the deeping wall and the two gates .

Thanks anyway ,Have you played as Helm deep VS isengard only
i.e like two towers ?
What do you think of the script-work ?

I think its a cool idea, and very well made. Could lead to some very fun battles. Great work, I bet this took a while to make :p

You've said this is a seven-player map. Unfortunately, I can't find my bfme2 disc and am currently using a no-dvd crack which is incompatible with the normal 1.06 patch. Is your map AI-compatible? If so, I'd love to give it a whirl but, for reasons stated, I can't play multiplayer anymore.

Yes ,It is Ai compatable and has tons of script like a campaign .
It is supposed to be Multi-player / Single-player .
I have tried it as Single player many times .
It is actually a totally re-done Minas tirith map as
I could not build Minas tirith from scratch

I have had some spare time so I ''Upgraded '' Helm's Deep Section
to have better walls .It is close to EA's except I removed the unguarded inner gate and ramp !

Still doing some minor testing and beautification .

The only problem is actually MAP SPACE !!!
I used the largest map possible and still had to SQUEEZE the major regions in !
Edoras needs Rohan Buildings etc but I ant got much space to put them ..Will try !

I added a few more stuff to Mordor and re-did the Waterfalls to face player
BTW Helms Deep looks GREAT now ... I will upload when I finish testing !
Just making sure no pathing issues that I noticed when playing for a few hours ! :p

THANK FOR TRYING THE MAP :)


PS :Play only as men in Helms Deep VS Isengard
for a nice Scripted gameplay of the TWO TOWERS !

The gate , the walls and the Tower Upgrades are fully functional !

And now a little NEW POWER Update for the MOD - Rise of the Phoenix
You summon a circle of poisonous spikes on the ground .
Your units can move freely through it .
The weak enemy units are stopped by the spikes ..
The enemy heroes can attack the spikes but are poisoned ...
The enemy archers can attack the spikes from a distance ....
Enemy cavalry are stopped DEAD by the Spikes ...

Its like a cool Protective barrier around your hero

Its on a timer and you cant build over them .
