Price 600 is just fine for D-rangers(with all features added), and the mounted Rangers should have toggle(bows/spears) too, agree.

The point of giving the rangers damage would be to have them be berserkers: high damage, low armor, respectable health and fast moving. Anyways, the toggle would be ineffective against Mumaks, true, but would be effective against other infantry. The rangers need to be buffed in general. Also, they should not be made to be ONLY stealthy ambush units. The reason for this has been given.

Anyways, as it stands, the Dunedain Rangers are nowhere near OP. Yoda did point out a good thing, though. They do have a fast build time. Allow me to alter my earlier suggestion to this:
400 health
Toggle with high damage melee
Keeps longshot
Can get upgrades
Raise cost to 550 each 6
Build time of 30-45 seconds per battalion

ever played arnor before? To hell with fast build time. Yoda, the only reason I kept pumping them out very fast was because i had 4 of them scattered everywhere. The build time should be decreaed, not increased.

I play as Arnor all the time. It's my favorite faction and I get better with them daily. The normal soldiers have a faster build time, to be certain. Anyways, Yoda, the only reason why they always own your Orcs when they get up close is because Orcs are crap and killed in one blow by many units. Goblins are almost alway killed in one hit. Concerning the Dunedain Rangers, their random sword slashing just isn't satisfactory to be honest. I'd be more reasonable to just give them all toggles. Make the price to whatever you specified. Anyways, maybe you can have normal woodsman with swords and then some with bows (no toggle for them) and then the rangers who have the toggle. Some rangers would be more than a match for plenty of Elves with a sword.

Anyways, it's 2-1 for the toggle issue. It looks like most people want a toggle for them.

Dunadain should be elite an versatile.
They should be a force to recon with.

And, reckon... :p

CIL, I think that you automatically overrate whatever you're arguing in favor of. Sure, Dunedain could beat elves who'd never trained before in a fight with swords, but if it comes to elves who had actually been working at it... well, they'd put up a fight, but die quickly anyway.

Well, I think Dunadains were preaty equel to most of elven swordsmasters, and if such a battle between Duadains and elves could ever be(and it couldn't :p ), I think Dunadains would take out as many elves as elves could take out dunadains. Both sides had great heroes and both sides had great swordsmen.

I definately agree with the idea of seperate archers and swordsmen for the dunedain rangers (much like gondors ithilien rangers + swordsmen)

Dunadain should be elite an versatile.
They should be a force to recon with.

the current dunedain rangers could get a toggle, major buff, cost increase, build-time increase, and a limit too how many that can be created. This would essentially replace (or at least go along-side the elite arnor cav.), which would be able to match the noldor elven elite etc

yeah thats sorta what i mean, except how arnor, imo, needs an adequate elite unit, why not an even stronger ranger battalion with toggle and leadership abilities., that would run with the dunedain being the strongest of all men (i havent read the books :()

I agree about idea of they own elite unit,as for stronger than all men..well they maybe stronger and have bless of long live..but they won't so tough than Beornings or Dwarves in combat..and due to game balance issue,i think just make them a bit stronger than ithilien rangers it should be fine. :p

Actualy this kind of nice idea too about separate swordsmen and archers for Dunadain rangers, and I quite like the idea about elite Dunadains with toggle, imo Royal knights are quite few(just one batalion), maybe this elite batalions of Dunadain could be limited to 2-3 batalions. And having this way 3-4 batalions of elite would be fine for Arnor.
And surely Dunadain should be stronger than ihtilien.
I guess than Dunadains with swords should get 400 health and bowmen 350. And the elite should get about 600, maybe some leadership power, and swordmasters power(wich would be simular to noldors' or Aragorn's power).

all this arguing!!!!!

how about a solution to make everyone happier??

Increase the upgarde cost to 1000, the camp price to 750 and ((dont no if this is possible)) put a limit on number of camps ((2)) increase price of rangers to 650 ((5 in a squad))

keep the health the same as in the 1.06 version but do give toggle or u may need to create a whole new stronger soilder for Arnor

how does that float your boat :q: :ex:
