@Gfire: Not just play, but I also need people to download the replays I provide and watch them. Then come back and give me a nice (preferably detailed) review of my performance. :shiftee2:

@Matias: Joined. :crazed: Just remember that sometimes when I'm on, I can only chat. Still, it seems all the major players are here.....excellent.

I'll have a look. I have to load them using the mod if they were with a mod, right? Or does it just use a video file or something in BFME1?
Greetings, community.

Yeah, with the mod, go to multiplayer and then replays.

You have to watch replays with the mod they were created with. That's why I mention what version of the game. :p

and yeah, as Yoda said. Multiplayer-->Replays to watch one.

Put the replay file in ...../My Battle for Middle-earth Files/Replays

Right, I got that much.

I watched the first one (the vanilla one,) and it was interesting. Pretty short.

Try investing more in resources during the early game, so you can get more camps and whatnot. You didn't really play aggressively, so you should try to get more resources in the beginning.

I played fairly aggressive... I took that camp fairly early. :p

No, I don't have a death wish.....yes, I played Matias.

Anyways, the details:

Game version: TEA
My faction: Isengard
My opponent: Matias as Elves
Map: Eastern Rohan
Victor: Unknown (well....)

Matias gave me the option of playing against his normal self or his "handicapped" self....I chose the latter. :crazed: I wanted to make sure I had some time playing...before I became inevitably crushed (it was clear from soon after the beginning that Matias was the one deciding when he would win, not if.). Surprisingly, for an intercontinental match, lag was not that bad. No more than what I usually see. Took a few tries to get the game started, though. :xd:

However, Matias got too busy with some other stuff to sufficiently finish the game, so we ended it prematurely. Do not be deceived....I did not conquer him in any way. tongue.gif

Do, however, download and watch the replay. And come back with your comments! :thumbsupsmiley:

Shouldn't this be in Tournament and games? TEA section of said area? ;)
I would do it, but Elven lacks power here ;)

You must be reading my thoughts....because I just sent a PM to Rob38 about moving it...... ;)

But no, not in the TEA section....I might choose to later expand it to include some other mods on perhaps BFME II or ROTWK. That is, whenever my dad gets around to having that one comp fixed.... ;)

...for BFME I perhaps... but there's also RA, T4A, and KOTW, and Lone Wolf....

Anyways, a double helping!

First one here is a 4 player FFA between me (Isen), Elven (duh, Elves!), Ring of Fate (Rohan), and mike (Isengard) on Crossroads. Elven once again proves his mastery of the TEA game. Mike ended up being dropped because he lost the connection. After that, me and Ring decided to temporarily ally against Elven, not that it helped much. Elven toyed with us for a while, until I finally gave him a really good reason to finish the job (wiping me off the map). After that, it degenerated into Elven vs Ring. Ring did a good job of holding off, but Elven had the advantage sealed. The game ended with a massive siege of Ring's final castle, where Ring managed to eliminate (with help from a Dead Army) a majority of Elven's army, only to fall prey to Eagle and Ent Summon Powers from Elven.

Second one here is an old one actually, but I didn't post it up because I formerly thought I had lost the replay. A rematch 1v1 of me (Isen) vs Ring (Rohan) ended with Ring systematically tearing me apart. Either (A) Ring learned a lot from the first 1v1 match we had where I would have won if the connection had not disappeared or (B) I was simply lucky the first time and not so this time.

Personally, I support (A)..... :crazed:

I watched the 1vs1 on west emnet vs Ring, the most important thing for you to remember is BfME is all about harassment and economy, not who can pick the best army to counter your opponents like a CnC game. So sitting back at any point and building no army is even worse than it normally is in a CnC game, you should constantly be harassing his settlements and building units to defend the map.

Early game you always need extra uruks in 1vs1, so good idea starting with a pit. Your options are really either pit and 2 mills (the advantage being a stronger economy... provided you don't loose a mill) or pit furn and one forward mill (advantage being you catch his starting units earlier - if he's rushing ofc which Ring didn't but should have done). Vs Rohan though I'd say you can get away with pit 2 mills as they haven't got the advantage of placing land on your mill, so with chant and some labourers repairing it you should be able to save your mills. Send labourers to grab your other 2 mills. Make sure you send your first uruk forwards as soon as you're done claiming mills though, and find his peasants! Don't wait next to your base. In general, never have idle units, especially early game. After you've dealt with his first peasants, and any extra peasants he decides to make (scout for this, send some labs to key points so you spot them early enough) you should aim to get 5 uruks early game. Scout out his base so you know what he's building. If he gets a stable after 2 inside farms, be worried. Get a total of 5 uruks (4 extra, to make your pit level 2) to harass his farms with chant and take a creep or two with any extra uruks (just attack the lair, not the goblins and take the cash) and afterwards progress to pikes to defend your mills from horse and attack his, start to build up an economy ect. making sure you have enough pikes to cover all mills. Then buy an armoury when you get the cash, get all upgrades except for fire arrows, sell the armoury for a warg pit and get some wargs out. Your army vs a decent rohan will consist of mainly wargs and pikes, lurtz, and later saru and maybe 2 combos (2 is max). The only time you need more is if he spams Rohirim archers, but even then don't get pike combos, normal uruk/xbow combos are better. Once you get rain vs Rohan its an easy ride.

As I said this is all provided you scout fast stable build. If you see any other strat such as fast archers, any kind of hero spam, fast spearmen, there's no need to worry. Just kill all his farms and make mills there. You probably won't need 5 uruks to do this, so when you think you have enough switch to xbows and use them to creep the entire map, killing the lairs first so the creeps don't attack the xbows. I usually get a lot of xbows to do this with, maybe even 6+. Keep an eye on what he's doing because if he gets some horse like ring did you need to get some pikes. Your economy will be through the roof though as furns only cost you 240, so you can build up your base super fast. If he goes for heroes go for Lurtz and a couple of pikes, use pin and WC and the horse heroes die in seconds. More powerful heroes like lego you need to get ups first. Get ups then an outpost next to his base and a few battering rams and hit his base with some fully uppued uruks and pikes with warchant.

If that helped you in anyway I'd be happy to comment on any future games you post as well :wink_new:.

Yeah, I haven't been in here in a while, and it looks like the topic will collect dust a little longer yet. All online games I play will be with the KOTW beta, which is a private beta. Giving you my replays from it would do you no good, since you wouldn't be able to watch them.

Don't worry, I'll be back eventually. :xd:
