I guess this is pretty hard to force. You might try setting your alarm clock to go off at a time when you are in the middle of a REM-phase, but chances are that you will simply wake up normally (at least you will remember your dreams then).

You're pretty skilled if you know the exact time you go into REM. Might have a buddy help you there or something, like disturbing your visual cortex with colorful lights flashing while in REM. Dunno if that'll just cause a seasier though... so maybe not.

Why would you want to paralyze yourself in any way, shape, or form? Do you not know the full meaning of the term?

Was it his choice to be in that state? I don't think so.

Just steal/buy some damn ketamine if you're that nuts about wanting to be paralyzed. Also, get some goop for your eyes, since it'll leave you unable to blink, and you don't want them to dry out.

I don't want it drug induced, and this is temporary paralysis, like at most a minute. It's not very long or dangerous.

Even things your body naturally makes are drugs... You still want the effects of a paralytic, which when waking, hey, who isn't to say would be dangerous?

Okay so lets get it straight, someone who wants to report me for putting porn on this forum wants to paralyze himself?
Just try to die in your dreams, then you cant really move.

A moment's pause for research shows that sleep paralysis is probably caused by a melatonin deficiency in the brain during REM sleep. Unless you can find a drug to simulate that, you can follow a few steps that may or may not help, research is unclear.

Sleep in a supine position. That means on your back.
Irregular sleeping patterns. Naps, early nights followed by extremely late nights, that sort of thing.
Lucid dreams immediately prior to the moment of paralysis.

Sudden environment changes and increased levels of stress are also thought to contribute something to the process. By the way, it's rare to find in someone who does not suffer from narcolepsy. Do you?

I would question whether or not you really intend to undergo this. Sleep paralysis is heavily associated with terrifying hallucinations and a sense of extreme, acute danger and panic. If you do in fact achieve a moment of sleep paralysis, you will probably regret it for the rest of your life. It may even become difficult to get rid of it once you have allowed your brain to submit to the concept. I am not a doctor, nor do I have any medical training or really knowledge, but even I can see that this will not be a good thing. Not at all.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.
