The story of Sodom is moot because the only person God allowed to escape was a total douche (along with the old testament God in general).
I think it's moot because god's solution is to the whole "Sodom has to burn... but Gomorrah can't because he's nice..." was to send two angels. I can send two guys to pick someone up! The most powerful being in the universe can't just zap the old geezer out of there? Kirk would! Why is God's aim so bad anyway? Doesn't he use smart-bomb technology for his vengeful fire?
Friggin' bullshit.

It's often illegal to pay for sex, and it's nearly always illegal to pimp. It's usually God-bothering nations that make the act of prostitution illegal. Like the Islamic world, or America. Across most of Europe it's legal although regulated. Which seems to me to be the best policy, and how it ought to be. As long as it's voluntary and pimping is illegal, I see no real issue. Regular checks ought to be mandatory, too.
It's a legitimate business profession, according to the rules of business; a person is providing a product or service, in return for payment. They aren't scamming anyone, and they aren't robbing anyone. Even if I thought it was wrong, I'd still say it should be legal, because at the end of the day if someone's willing to pay, there'll always be someone willing to sell, no matter what the product or service is. Therefore making it illegal's a waste of time.

Should prostitution be made legal? I say yes. I don't see what right any government has to control what happens between two consenting adults. Besides which, people get paid for making porn films. How is having sex for money any different when it's on camera?
New Zealand, western Australia and the Netherlands are a few of the most famous places to have legalised prostitution. In New Zealand the major distinction is between "voluntary and involuntary prostitution". So forcing people into whoring is still very much illegal, but selling yourself or working in a brothel isn't. Hurrah!
Anyway, I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion was. I figure at least one person will want to rant about the decline of morality.
Hmmm... from a totally practical viewpoint, I think that legalizing prostitution in a Third-World country would not be advisable. The reason for that is this: if you legalize prostitution, you need to control it to stop the spread of STDs, if you will. And if prostitution was legal, it would be taxed, and if it is taxed, it would be really expensive, so people who run brothels will get smaller profits, leading to their disillusionment with legal prostitution and go underground again, thus making it harder to control prostitution, and so the government will just ban it again, thus repeating the cycle.
I only limited myself to Third World countries because I'm currently staying in one now.
Well, that's my take on this subject. Please correct me if you see any holes in my argument.

I replaced all of your 'o's with 'a's. Now there are no symmetrical holes in your argument.Hmmm... fram a tatally practical viewpaint, I think that legalizing prastitutian in a Third-Warld cauntry wauld nat be advisable. The reasan far that is this: if yau legalize prastitutian, yau need ta cantral it ta stap the spread af STDs, if yau will. And if prastitutian was legal, it wauld be taxed, and if it is taxed, it wauld be really expensive, sa peaple wha run brathels will get smaller prafits, leading ta their disillusianment with legal prastitutian and ga undergraund again, thus making it harder ta cantral prastitutian, and sa the gavernment will just ban it again, thus repeating the cycle.
I anly limited myself ta Third Warld cauntries because I'm currently staying in ane naw.
Well, that's my take an this subject. Please carrect me if yau see any hales in my argument.
Agreed though. Harlots can get real jobs and actually contribute to their crappy society.

Sorry for going off-topic, but I have to tell a little story hereSome people are all "oooh, amsterdam". Personally, I don't hate it, but I don't feel something special there either. There are nice cities here.
A few weeks ago, my American aunt and uncle were staying here. They had to pay a visit to Amsterdam, whose 'coat of arms' (I need a better translator for this word: The shield?) is three x's.
My Uncle noted that xxx in America means sex, so he thought that Amsterdam, already renowned for its prostitution, had a coat of arms dedicated to that particular business
Other than that, he is one of the wisest man I know, so no stereotypes!
Ontopic:
Pasidon, the busting of Comrade General's statement made no sense. Claiming that Germany had no moral codes was a bad move, but this just makes it worse.
please take note that, until further notice, I don't care, so get lost.
