The Dutch are probably the most down-to-earth people anywhere. If you take a swing at their culture, most will just say "meh".

Indeed it is.

And I'm not a hippie.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

Sure you are!

Oh and 2play, the Dutch are so down-to-earth that we have degraded ourselves into blind apathy. Not a good thing at all.

Alright alright... Native American culture counts too, but early settlers kinda destroyed most of that.

Not even then. That was until the mid to late 1800s even.

What I mean is that the the Native culture wasn't really eliminated in large part until the late 1800s. Most states didn't become actual states until then so a lot of the US during that time was just Western territory where the Natives lived. Keep in mind, the US wasn't magically fifty states in a few months. It took nearly 180 years for us to have all 50.

Even today, the culture lives on... albeit on a much smaller scale. But also bear in mind the US has a very diverse population so we have cultures being assimilated into our own from all parts of the globe.

That's true, however the modern-day American culture is a lot more recent (read: recent, not worse, I am a big fan of many aspects of American culture so don't think I'm putting it down) then the European one, simply because the nation is a lot younger. That's what I was getting at. Just to feed the annoying troll that is Pasidon.

That's true but we're comprised of cultures that have existed for centuries.
Bah, damn Pasidon and his trollery.
