Wow. This was a complete shock for me. RIP Xeno.

What a shock.

He never was very kind to me, so I can't relate to most of you. But fundamentally, and when grudgeless, he was a good guy. An active participant in the community until his health forced him on another journey.

He'll be missed, certainly. I'll miss him, even if I disliked him at times. We'll all miss him, and I'm no exception.

I would have liked to have heard about this earlier - my lack of participation means I only find out days later. But I felt I should pop in for a moment and comment on these bad news.

Well, rest in peace, Richard - Xeno. You sure hated me, but contrary to popular belief I never hated you. Despite our differences and ill feeling the last time we spoke, I hope that the afterlife is rewarding after such a painful end to your life here. May god give you a good life as your material life draws to a close.

Goodbye, and best wishes.

I saw this before, but didn't know what to say. I'll just start.

I don't even know for sure who you are, I have but a vague idea in my head. I'm also sure you never knew me. But that's allright. Let's all hope that our dear friend is somewhere in a better place. It doesn't matter who or what you are, what you do or what you belief. Maybe his spirit went to the heavens or maybe it returned to a different body, from what I know of this terrible illness you have had, it can only be better.

May you rest in peace, and may you be long remembered.

To my shock I just found out what happened, so I decided to return for once to the CNC community to raise a toast to Xeno, who was one of the nicest people I've, and anyone, have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Xeno showed the value of life in his ability to stay positive, even though half of his life has been with the terrible disease that eventually got the bigger hand on him.

Xeno was one of those great guys who was always eager to help the modders of tomorrow, and he always had a good taste for his own directions. It's a shame not everyone on these boards got to meet him.

This community could not have imagined a better friend, tutor and person than Xeno. Rest In Peace mate.

Jesus, how is it possible that I didn't notice this until now? (Why the heck did nobody make a news post on the front page once we heard about it?)

That's a huge blow. I haven't known him as well as many others here have, so I cannot say much about his personality other than that he appeared to be a very strong and positive person, even in light of his struggle. He was part of this community for a longer time than me, so he definitely deserves my toast as well.

Rest in peace, Xeno. Our thoughts are with you as you continue on to your next life.

Perhaps this could be moved to the front page?

I'm back to post in this thread. I knew about it before I was linked to the thread, however I feel it's only right that I say a few words.

A nicer man than Richard you could never hope to meet. Heart of gold, salt-of-the-earth, never said a bad word about anyone and would give his last penny to help anyone out. He was the last person to deserve to have to go through what he did, and for it to end out the way it did for him.

I remember going down to meet him when he was given the 'all clear' a couple of years ago - in fact, the day I saw him was the first day he was allowed to have a pint again, so I made sure to buy him his first in celebration.

It rattled me when I heard about it, and I had a drink in toast to him. Always a fighter, but never let it get him down.

The world really is a poorer place without him.

PS - I've compiled a bunch of the comments from this thread thus far as per 2pg's idea. I will email them to one of our mutual friends who will present them to Rich's parents at his funeral on Friday - I don't know if I'll be able to make it, but if I can I'll present it personally. I'm sure it will be nice for them to see that Rich touched the hearts of people across the globe.

I'm afraid any further messages after this point might not make it, but most of the ones already here are on the message I'm sending on right away.

If you don't mind we could actually use that compilation and post it on the front page (as a set of quotes) along with a few words explaining who he was, his fight against cancer, etc. We could use the funeral as the occasion to post it. At least it would be something and I feel Xeno would definitely deserve that attention.

Real swell that a web site is showing respect to a member's family. That's a new one for me.

And hey... for the heck of it, why don't we hire Puppet or someone for a Xeno memorial signature bar to commemorate our memory of him.

One signature bar is hardly a reason to hire anyone. Just make it and put it in your sig. People will copy

Well, this is truly a sad thing, i just found out 10 minute ago on MSN...

I spoke to Richard quite a lot, up until about after Christmas time, when i never see him online anymore, even then i thought the worst...

Richard help me a lot in the ol'days of when i ran TS: Recoil, helped a lot with ideas and concepts, aswell as he made a good'ol Richard style cameo for me for the spotlight tower

He was also the first person to see my early C&C logo remakes that i spent a lot of time on, he helped me perfect the graident for the classic style logo, and aswell as getting the Westwood logo to the best of my skills, he also bugged me for some time to make that ShineOn Productions logo too, im happy i did that for him now. :)

Richard also told me about the time when he meet up with AG in London or so, and how mad AG is in real life! I was hoping to meet up with him and have a few drinks...

Richard was a great guy, was there when i needed a chat, he will be missed indeed.

A toast to you my friend, may you be at peace.

-Hyper

(BTW, on a side note, can i ask when was the last time anyone see anything from Richard?)

Though I am late to hear the news, I'm saddened by this.

I have never spoken to him myself, but saw one of the links in peoples signatures that lead to his topic, where he told us all he was suffering from cancer. I was touched by the honesty and the courage that he showed by posting that. I supported him in my mind, but never with words. That will now change.

Xeno, though your kind spirit has gone to lands where we cannot follow, you will be remembered, and thus you shall live on.

May the memories of you guide us on our way.
If the above post offended you in any way,
please take note that, until further notice, I don't care, so get lost.

Although I'm also late at noticing this thread, I feel like saying a few words as well.

Never really had any contact with Xeno, but anyone who is in my internet circles And a fellow Revora forum goon is someone I consider a friend.

Even though the flowers on his grave now might have lost some of their youth and beauty, they have in my eyes not lost a single petal.
And as the flowers in my mind, I wish the same fate for the memories we have of Xeno. Let them never fade or fall into darkness, let them shine and warm your heart.

I've been so out of the loop recently I've only just found out about this. It greatly saddens me.

Last I saw Richard was when he was given the all clear a couple of years ago, and we went with Ash and a couple of others to a pub in Camden for a pint. It shocks me that I was looking over those photos a few days ago, had no idea that Richard was no longer with us. He couldn't be a nicer person, couldn't be any more undeserving of his condition and his fate. He shall not be forgotten.

I know it's a bit late now, but my deepest condolances to his family and those close to him. I shall raise a glass to him tonight.
