What if we made it so that the space colonys will still build ships but at a slower rate then the stations. then when you build the stations it would remove the ships that are not for that level. That way the AI could still build ships and in the early game when you are short on cash you can still build ships and not have to worry about building stations until you can afford them.

Eagle, I've been gone for a while so I'm just catching up...but this would seem to represent a compromise to the "AI doesn't build stations" issue. Is that true?

The first part is feasible; the second isn't. The problem, though, is that the AI isn't building the Space Colony 1 - everything else is being built.

No solution yet to this problem? I stopped playing the game a long time ago because of this... Do you think that you'll be able to solve it in the future?

That's the same reason I stopped as well. And I didn't want to revert to the old Space Station logic because the new system is just that much better. I'll toast to a solution and many tired hours of the night dedicated once more to PR whenever it comes ready!

I must admit I've simply turned off the AI for the campaigns. Instead, I've busied myself creating new pirate variants of max upgraded ships and creating a 'hard-mode' campaign simply with everything upgraded. Very fun.

I think the fact that AI isn't able to build Lvl 1 Cololnys is the main cause of the huge lags in the campaigns. It trys to build something which is not buildable, like a loop or something. Well i hope you can understand my english is pretty bad(im from germany and my school english is not the best).

hey i've been gone for awhile thanks for looking at my idea i forgot about it. i realy need to play again just been to busy. love the mod it by far is the best sw game out there.

Pretty sure the AI isn't building Space Colony 1s because it's obsessing over hypervelocity guns and such... I just haven't gotten to the AI overhaul yet, which should fix it.
