Here are my top 275 favorite songs of the 1980s. As an 80s fan, it took a long time to bring in all the good stuff all in one post. There were websites listing the top songs of the 1980s, but I think you are going to find this list better than most other lists because I included themes. There are some songs that are tied. Decent songs such as Elektronik Supersonik, Puttin' on the Ritz, Rock Me Amadeus, Once In a Lifetime and Total Eclipse of the Heart are not in my top 275 list. Alternative, Indie, Classical music and Chinese songs (especially the ones in Cantopop) are not included in this list.

8. Stevie Nicks - Edge of 17

One of the best rock songs ever from one of the queen(s) of rock after Janis Joplin. I previously heard this in airplay, until I heard it again in GTA IV and that really turned me up. 

 

7. Bolland - In The Army Now // Status Quo - You're in the Army Now

The army track of the 80s that seems fittingly perfect for Call of Duty. Too bad Activision never recognized this song to be licensed, used and be put in a COD game.

 

6. Chuck Lorre - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme

Was my favorite childhood animated show and IMO the best TV theme song of the 1980s. The action theme is even better.

 

5. Angie Gold - Eat You Up

While it's a hit in Asia, this is probably the most underrated disco song ever by an underrated artist. It even spawned several Asian covers.

 

4. Kim Wilde - You Keep Me Hangin On

Her best song is this cover of the original. People can't stop listening to this enough because it keeps you riveting for more.

 

3. Michael Jackson - Thriller

It was the album that made him King of Pop status, and the titled song itself made it the best song to listen on Halloween. The "reloaded mix" version by Mixscape made it even better.

 

2. Art of Noise - Moments of Love

A definite pure electronic gem of the 80s and one of the most underrated songs ever. The original is over ten minutes long while the jazzy love version is about seven minutes long, all despite having about 12 different versions of it!

 

1. Wham - Everything She Wants

Since childhood till today, it's still my favorite 80s song among the rest today. Mix in electronic, pop and jazz, you create the best beats of music.
