Hello,

So I've been trying to get some HD videos uploaded to YouTube and I think I've finally managed to do this. Check out the video here!

This is just one video, I'll be uploading more and maybe you can post some ideas about videos I might be able to do.

For example, should the video only be in Battle Camera mode?

But this was version 1.0, quite a while back.

Yeah, I saw that one on YouTube. It made me consider adding music to my video but decided to leave it like this, maybe in future videos (I don't really know what's appropriate though).

What's actually kinda funny is that I never intended to have music in the video, I was just listening to Kamelot on Winamp as I played PR and I decided to fraps it. I didn't know fraps would record Winamp as well.

Pretty freakin' sweet :D. Any kind of grassroots advertising you can do for us is greatly appreciated. 1000+ views on Kacen's video is stellar. Granted, it's much older, but more vids equals more views! Thanks!

You should get a good big fleet battle going. Maybe at Kuat? :D

Yes I know, but what ships do I have to use in my fleet?

Something epic. A good way to do it would be to just mod in a short little campaign solely for showing off fleet battles. Say, give yourself Balmorra or whatever similar planet within close proximity of your target, and give yourself your desired fleet.

That way, you don't have to worry about building, researching, etc., and can get right to the action for the videos.

As for your fleet...I suggest some low-to-mid-level units, in a wide distribution. Instead of having one Dreadnaught, one heavy Capital, and two carrier Capitals, all upgraded at max...Simulate a desperate Rebel attack on Empire-held Kuat, in order to wrench control of vital shipyards from Imperial control? Say, two Reef Home-class MC80 or MC80a's, three Liberty-class MC80 or MC80a's, some Dodonna- or Dreadnaught-class Cruisers, some CR90 Corvettes, some fighter/bomber escorts, etc. Make it a relatively balanced battle, so you yourself are also losing units.

I'd do it myself, but it appears you have a larger, prettier screen, and I just can't run Tactical at max visuals without any rather noticeable lag. Just my thoughts. :D

I can do that, but I like to use the original campaigns. But for really big detailed battles I might do that in the future.

Well, this was just a test shot, I never thought it was going to work so I decided to upload it anyways. I will make some more balanced battles next time with a lot of variety. I need a lot of suggestions (I don't know that much about Star Wars) and maybe add some intro or something, if PR is willing to provide me with the splash screen image in .PNG format as big as he can get.

That was one of my things why I never shot videos before, I wanted to show the mod with it's full potential. BTW, my screen is 1920x1080, that's what I also record it at and convert it to 1280x720P with Windows Movie Maker :thumbsupsmiley: I don't know any other program that can convert 1920x1080P AVI to either 720P WMV or MP4.

EDIT: I just re-uploaded the video again on higher quality, thought I'd mention it because of the 0 views.

Ones that don't still use vanilla models :thumbsupsmiley:.

Well, that's hard to avoid isn't it :thumbsupsmiley:

Anyway, can I remove the other videos from my channel, they kind of sucks and I think you've seen them by now. The one with the Executor in it refers to this thread.

I'll just make movies during campaigns, when a cool battle occurs I'll record it. This will give a more realistic feeling of how the mod really is. I'm currently play Thrawn Campaign as the Empire vs. Hard. Due to the fact you can't build the old ships after you upgraded them, I'm making 25 ships of each version, from every ship . Maybe when the Shadows of the Empire mod is willing to give PR their sub menu system, the old models can still be bought. Other than that, the battles vs. the Alliance are usually against the same ships (also the other way around) so I think you will find more battles against the Pirates for v1.1.

The menu system isn't actually that hard normally. I thought up of it a long time ago when I first joined the PR community, without knowing about Shadows of the Empire (Still don't actually), and before UEaW started attempting it.

The only problem is that it would get exponentially harder with PR's upgrade system. Probably unfeasible, even.

I have no plans to ever make obsolete models buildable after upgrade.

Genius. I like how it told a story. I haven't seen v1.1 in a while - v1.2 will look even better!

If only FoC had a Cinematic Editor like Medieval 2: Total War. :(

Very nice work without one though! You said you use FRAPS to record and Windows Movie Maker to do the editing? Perhaps I will make a counterattack from the Rebel scum...

Thanks, and I look forward to v1.2, really can't wait.

Yes, this would make it so much easier.

Thanks! as for the rest. In my first video I did use WMM. For my second, I also used FRAPS, but I used Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 for the editing. Many hours went into the video, although it may not look like it. I had to put up my own campaign, do some research (I know nothing about SW) and record the video, which had to be re-done multiple times. That took hours.

Then the video editing itself, I'm a complete n00b with the program and had to find out almost anything myself. The original battle almost took 20 minutes so I had to cut out half of it, this is very annoying due to the sound issues and keeping the correct parts. You also need to find the right balance between Battle Camera mode and just tactical view, too long battle camera gets boring and you have no idea what's going on. The adding of the text was the shortest part, 2 hours at max. And last I had to find out how to convert the video correctly with Elements, which took quite some time (converting a video in the wrong format so it becomes 60GB is completely wrong and takes hours).

I hope I get more suggestions from people to promote the mod even further.

I think I have a story for the next battle, but I don't know for sure. I also want to do something else before that.... man I don't want to spoil anything :) :sad2:

My videos are on a stand still, my external HDD (WD WD5000E035-00) has decided to give up on me and I only used it for half a year on special occasions. So now I don't have the space to copy my large .AVI files to and can't record anything ;) I guess I'll have to buy a new one or remove the short stroke from my WD Caviar Blacks.

Sorry for the triple post, but I fixed the problem with my External HDD and went on with the videos. So here is the Blockade of Yavin.
