Thorin - Gloin - Dain... perhaps?

The two to the left look too old, though one of them could be Dain. :crazed:

... some other Dwarves, from the movie:

Posted Image
... four Dwarves at the Council of Elrond ...
from: The Quintessential 'Lord of the Rings' Website

According to the books, Gloin was Emissary of Dain and head of the delegation from Erebor. Please notice the colour of the Dwarves' hair - none of them are grey or white-haired, cf.:

p. 284-5:
[the Dwarves'] average age (unless they met a violent death) was about 250 years ...
By forty all Dwarves looked much alike in age, until they reached what they regarded as old age, about 240. They then began to age and wrinkle and go white quickly (baldness being unknown among them ...).

... so a Dwarf with white hair would be very old.

EDIT: bigger picture, correct text in last quote.

P.S. (10/24):

@Nazgul: Gimli is the dwarf in the middle. According to the books, one of the other three should be Gloin; None of them could be Dain II, Thorin III, Durin VII or Dwalin, as these were higher ranking than Gloin, who according to lore was the emissary of king Dain and also speaking on behalf of king Brand of Dale.

The names given to those dwarves on The Quintessential Website are probably 'production names' - all three names belong to dwarves, that at the time of the War of the Ring were long since dead, so they could eventually be associated with Gloin or any other dwarven hero not mentioned above. :crazed:

Who's the guy in the middle  Harry Potter?
The model looks nice, I like the texture a lot.

Nazgul är det du som gör texturerna? Eller vem är det som gör dom? Skulle du kunna skicka mig personens profil så jag kan kontakta honom, behöver hjälp med textures själv :crazed:

No, it's Richard Taylor, the guy who was in charge of Weta Workshop. :crazed:

Very true. :D So, we're talking about the shade of the beards. It would probably be best to have them without white beards...after all, not all of them are super old.

Hmmm..Gloin deserve to have white or grey beard colors. As for Dwalin..he suppose to have white beard in the beginning. He is one of oldest dwarves.

Well, Gloin might have a white beard, as he is Gimli's dad and Gimli isn't exactly VERY young.

I think that during the WotR Dwalin was about 249 (TG mentions that Dwalin died in F.A. 91 at the age of 340). So, does a 249 year-old Dwarf deserve a white beard or is he still too young?

The hobbit says "a blue beard tucked into a golden belt" about dwalin. Please feel free to translate.

Noting this, I'd add a gold belt and maybe some gold bands around his wrists or something.

Edit: According to TG, Dwalin is 11 years older than Gloin.

A blue beard??? Hmm...anyway, many years have passed since the Hobbit, so maybe he would've had a white beard by the WotR. I think (if the blue beard is what Tolkien meant) that it would be better to have Dwalin with a white beard---the blue is a little too strange. :p

Here's another version/idea for Thorin modeled by Lauri... A really cool looking buff model. A bit unpersonal maybe, with the Khazad helmet? This was meant to be Thorin before I got the other model above... Two REALLY good models regardless :crazed:

Why not have him as another sword-wielding dwarf hero?
Ignited into the world in a flash of lightning, it gleams faintly in the heart of its mother, wood. It begins as an ember, a mere wisp of heat and colour. Its chance of survival at this critical moment is minute, yet it fights on, against the unforgiving cold, against the depths of night and against its mortal enemy: rain.

@ Namo:

According to the LotR decipher gaming cards, Tolkien Gateway, and Google, Gloin looked in PJs movie like this:
http://img5.imageban...050569439b1.jpg
He really appeared in the first movie, in the scene where Gimli was shown the first time. He wasn't at the council scene though, so it looks like Gloin was removed there. Instead we got Gimli and the three other Dwarves.
Decipher even made up a fifth Dwarf: Fror.
http://img5.imageban...LOTREN02006.jpg
Although I wouldn't count him in, because he looks 90% like Gimli and can't be found at any other council pictures. I personally think that the Cardmakers just found a picture of Mr John Rhys-davies Dwarven-double and used it for another Hero. So Fror is some kind of an invented-invention Character, and thus not of any interest. ^^

So we have those Dwarves from the council scene:
http://img44.imagesh...20011271452.jpg

From right to left, we have the Name Farin
http://img5.imageban...050569428b1.jpg
which belongs also to Gimlis Grandfather who, like you already said, died long ago.

Then comes Gimli of course.

Next Dwarf is called Thrarin. A craftsman of the lonely mountain.
http://img5.imageban...LOTREN12015.jpg
The name isn't recorded in Tolkiens writings, so it seems to be an invented character.

The last Dwarf at the far left is somehow ignored at the Quintessential Website. According to Decipher it is Dains son, Thorin Stonehelm.
http://img5.imageban...9/LOTR17006.jpg
This could maybe be used as Thorin III's Palantir icon. ^^

Besides...
There's also a cool looking card of Dain Ironfoot.
http://img408.images...ainironfoot.jpg
Looks much more like a stout Dwarf in my opinion. ^^

Just wanted to add some picture resources. :crazed:

....That IS Gimli. :p In the Minas Tirith "war council" scene.

Great posts Namo and Adamin! Thanks guys!

I have 1 final hero to add, and... it's leaning towards Durin VII? I can't think of any better, as I'd like to have a name that sounds familiar even to none Tolkien-scolars :p

Ho-ly he-ll! :D This is by far the BEST looking dwarf model I have ever seen in any mod... Donated from Thorongil03 of the Edain mod, I can gladely say that AT LAST we have all new heroes for SEE! :p The only question is, who would he portray in SEE? I see models like actors, and in Edan he portraid Durin I the Deathless, and I was thinking Durin VII the Last for SEE. But considering he looks very old, that wouldn't work with the lore as he's suppsed to be the son of Thorin III Stonehelm, who in SEE looks much younger... So, this model should represent the oldest and TOUGHEST Dwarf in the faction... which ought to be... Dain II Ironfoot, right? SO what if I made this model Dain and the Dain model into... Thorin, and the Thorin model into Durin VII? Would that work? The reason the current Thorin model carries a sword is cause he was meant to be Thorin Oakenshield, but that was before I was corrected by the lore folks =p

Just look at this beauty!... :crazed:

Naz I think you got the right idea switching around the models, though the dain model thats going to be thorin will need a slight reskin, mostly beard color. I support whatever you decide though.

Looks Awesome! :D

Dain's axe was red in the books. At least, the one he uses to behead Azog in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs was, and there's no reason for that to change... So, I'd make it red. And it looks a little big and heavy, too... I think it should be sharper and lighter, with a faster attack speed.

Shield skin could use some work too, like the gold part should look like the other gold stuff...
