I've been pretty lax with updates recently, my apologies for that. Update writing time has been mostly occupied with finishing the mod, which I consider more important than a regular flow of screenshots. As a result of all this hard work, I have good news: The Dwarf Holds is now very close to completion. Despite this cheery beginning, there is one section of the mod which is very lacking at the moment: unit and hero audio. The Dwarves comprise an entire new faction, and as a result need a least a dozen full audio sets (the actual number is closer to two dozen) to reach perfection.

This gives us a bit of a problem. Writing scripts, finding actors and recording this audio content is time consuming, and it will certainly take longer than the time required to complete the first version of the mod. Therefore, we've come up with two options, and I'd like to have the public's opinion on them.

1. Release the mod earlier, with a bare minimum of voices. This option lets you get your hands on the mod as soon as possible. The only audio set included would be the absolutely essential one - namely, the narrator. The downside is that you'd have your various Dwarves speaking with distinctly un-Dwarvish voices, or not at all.

2. Wait for additional voices and release the mod later. This option ensures that the first release is even more complete, at the cost of time. We'd try our best to get voices for all units by this point. In addition, it would give us more time to balance and fine-tune the mod, potentially adding a few features along the way that were going to be moved to a second release.

Vote in the poll to let us know what you think! This also might be a good time to check around to see if you have a decent microphone; when scripts are finished, we're going to be looking for actors.

I'll leave off with a trio of screenshots.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

I'm not a participant in the Dwarf Holds, but I think that the option of having the mod more complete is much better, even though it will take longer.

Waiting is most of the fun and if that waiting time will be spent improving it, then why not?

Just my opinion as a bystander. :)

''Waiting is most of the fun''? Whoa.

Anyway, yay, some of my things were featured in an update! Also, I'd go for option 1, just because that would make the bugtesting process a lot quicker, what with more people playing the damn thing.

If you need voices, I can probably do a few, as you know.

Later. If you're interested, I wrote some audio scripts for KotW (I'm not sure if they made it in) and I'd be happy to do the same for TDH.

I voted for later but only if that means the mod will be released sometime in the next six months. :p If you still can't get all the voice scripts after six months, then I would just release it. ;)

I think you should release it later with voices.
I don't know if you can do it but can't you use the BFME2 Dwarven voices?

Just wondering, are voice acting forums worth a shot?

Quick googling found these, which look fairly active, though I think mainly do anime/manga crap.

Anime voices don't seem to really fit with Dwarves, imo. Just saying. XD

Well... If you upload the mod now, when releasing the next version with voices probably there will be a part of people that won't download it again. So, the best thing you could do in my opinion is to release it when you have all the voices ingame.

However, if you can't find voice actors or you think that it will take a long time, just release it or people will loose the interest.

I suggest releasing it when you have found the voices. I mean...come on, a dwarf talking like a gondorien or not talking at all? :xcahik_:

NOTE:For dwarf voices you could search on youtube for the brakshi lord of the rings film. I don't really like the film but you could find some nice audios there(Gimli's and Gandalf's voices would do!) :p

Aye, couldn't agree more with that.

I voted for 1.

Its hard work to get a decent and complete voicepack and could cost a lot of time. Especially when you're waiting for two dozen voicepacks.
RA died already, while everyone was waiting. They wanted to finish tons of modells, skins and systems, so the release would be perfect. But it never came.
I would rather like to finally experience those Dwarves ingame, after so many years. :xcahik_:
