First of all i have no idea abt vxl editing and normal painting. So i never did any vxl. But after the release of new VXL SE i got a way to edit the texture of a voxel.

last night i did my first texture. I used Daz's Renegade A10 warthog. I extracted the texture as BMP, then edited in Photoshop.

Here r the original GDI texture and my green camoflauged texture.

It looks good in HVA editor also.

But look how it looks in game, a green color turns more bright

Now tell me, what is wrong with me ?

It doesnt look that bad, actually. Hm, the problem is that non scheme colors turn too bright sometimes.

Not for voxels, they use a file that ends .vpl in the local.mix file.

BTW, using that texture method doesn't actually affect the normals in any way...

There are different vxl normals indicies, and these change the colour in different ways.
If you send me the file in lurid green, I can re-normalise in a darker normals set for you. But you will need to finish them by hand yourself (am a bit busy, sorry).

Texture is fine. Palette is not.

I just hope someone enlightens us on the VPLs compression method. Its really bad that it cant be substituted, as it closes schemings and disallows alternative color schemes.

Its because of the pallete, same shit happens with 3d modelled->rendered builings sometimes.

The ra2 unittem (and ts one too) is tricky - there are several colors that are non remapable and they always use maximal light condition. I marked these colors in an attachement below. Beware of these colors :D

but its only a suggestion
