In the same structure.... I don't think we need a separate building for one unit. Besides, the model clearly shows both Dale and dwarven units belong there. So there will be Dale Swordsmen @lvl1, Dwarven Archers @lvl2, Dale Archers and Fire Arrows upgrade @lvl3 =)

So, if it trains swordsmen, I guess it won't be called the archery range any more? What will it be called. Hm... This could require more audio, too. "the archery range is ready" or whatever it is would have to go.

I don't see why an Archery range could not train basic swordsmen as well. It's not like they're some super elite specil unit really. They're just support for what matters in this faction - dwarven stamina and strenght and Dale's marksmanship at range =)

hmm.... i prefer the idea of basic units at level 1 production buildings, elite units at level 2 production buildings, and only anti-heros at level 3 production buildings. so the archery range would be: level 1 - dale swordsmen and dwarven archers level 2 - dale archers and fire arrows, level 3 - just faster build speed, or you could put fire arrows there

Make the swordsmen especially archer support and it will work. Maybe make then anti-archer as well, like in AoM for the greeks, where the archery range trained archers and anti-archers, barracks trained warriors and anti-warriors, etc.

Something like this:

Dale Archer > infantry (at distance)
Dale Swordsmen > Other Archers (close)
Other Archers > Dale Archer (at distance)

If it wasn't so darn hard coded I could make the Dale Swordsmen be a combined horde with the Archers =p

How would that work? Would it be like half and half of each unit in a single battalion? If the swordsmen go forward to attack, would the archers stay back to shoot from a range? Or would the swordsmen be a 'slave' unit to the archers?

So many questions... :D

Ignited into the world in a flash of lightning, it gleams faintly in the heart of its mother, wood. It begins as an ember, a mere wisp of heat and colour. Its chance of survival at this critical moment is minute, yet it fights on, against the unforgiving cold, against the depths of night and against its mortal enemy: rain.

It would probably work like the combo hordes in BFME1... The swordsman would just stand in front of the archers and defend them.

The Dwarven archers are GREAT and a definitive improvement over the axe throwers.

Keep the good work!

Maybe there could be an order where you control whether they stay and defend, or leave the archers if the enemy gets within a certain vicinity.

We can combine hordes, but we can't separate them, like in BFME1. BFME2 doesn't support that. I see no real use for Dale swordsmen... (as this faction should be about dwarves and Dale is just a supporting "minifaction") so having them defend the archers seems to be the best possible way of using them.

i like dale swordsmen - they are a nice basic infantry unit that moves faster than the dwarves, and pays homage to the lore as well. (their swords look a bit iffy tho)

you could use the audio from the axe-throwers for khazad guard. i think those it has the same audio as the veterans right now, and axe-throwers mostly say "ready your axes, dwarves", "axes", and stuff like that. of course "axe throwers" would not be included

You really don't need the formations. You can do that line up thing where you right and left click at the same time. Then you can just make the swordsmen/pike men in "hold ground" stance. while the archers stay in normal stance. Not perfect, but should work good enough.
