Youve got Layer=ground on the anims I guess. Is this just the code that comes with the SHP? TBH I think you should speak to someone who knows the engine inside and out, because it doesnt make much sense.
Also make sure the ActiveAnimZAdjust tags are correct (if its the default code then should be fine).

Edited the art of the walls? Got CanBeHidden=False on your tech lab code (though that probably shouldnt cause this...)?
All CanBeHidden affects is those little cursor markers for the 'show hidden object's marker. Yes = marker. No = none. No, seriously.
