Saruman should become the 'multi-coloured'. It was said in the books that when Gandalf visited the now evil Saruman, he had changed the simple white garment into something whitish that shimmered in the colours of the rainbow.
Something like GaladrielTheRingHero, just not as extreme. What do you think?
Good in theory, but both PJ (for the films) and John Howe (for one of his card paintings) found this concept extremely difficult to portray in a pleasing manner. I daresay you'd end up with a fabulous Saruman shooting rainbows from his fingertips, a memorable outfit for this year's Gay Pride Parade.

But he's just have some amazing fire and lightning powers, and of course an extreme version of the voice of saruman (permanently take over units.)

1. "instant defeat" over a little piece of gold is probably the most unfair thing you could do to a balance-fixing mod. How about, "all Mordor players lose leadership until the winning of the battle", since the Ring is only direct property of Mordor's leader (Sauron)
2. Making factions who were never dependent on the ring to live (namely Rhun and Harad) suffer things like "no heroes PERIOD" is purely unaccording to the lore. Instead, how about "no non-human/non-maia heroes for Evil Factions until the end of the game" be the penalty for not killing Frodo/Sam, for Tolkien says that in the Fourth Age, the Reunited Kingdom made peace with many Rhunic and Haradric satraps, but some weren't ready to forgive Numenor, so Aragorn had to battle them until they agreed to make peace.
All due respect,

This is a very good system! I have advise though:
1. "instant defeat" over a little piece of gold is probably the most unfair thing you could do to a balance-fixing mod.
Umm, i hate to be the bearer of shocking news, but that "little peice of gold" is the what the whole Lord of the Rings is about.
I have been wanting the Ring to be game ending sconce Bfme2 came out, i think its a brilliant idea. The One Ring is the most powerfull thing anyone can get their hands on, and the game should reflect that.
I cant wait for the next release!

If the enemy gets the ring and a uber powerful maia, the good guys are pretty fucked. The ring heroes will be buffed as well. So the above suggestion is pretty fair.

If Mordor does not get the ring, then their units should get a significant debuff because in the books, the army of the west, about 6,000, was able to defeat an army of Mordor 10 times bigger than their own when Sauron died. So since Sauron is dead, the units get a debuff. This should also happen to the goblins. You could have a specific effect on each faction if they are fighting a against a/another good faction, and that good faction gets the ring. Or, it could just be a debuff.

@Gfire: The game balance would be worsened on top of it
@Mystery-Guest: Good point, but that should only apply to Mordor, because Mordor was really the only faction dependent on the Ring to live. The rest were either governed or anarchy. When Sauron was destroyed, yes Mordor was gone, and Isengard was destroyed before even the third chronicle. Moria actually started after the removal of Morgoth, and were therefore not dependent on the ring, but we do not know what happened. FINALLY, the Humans of the Semiarid Lands. These peoples were not in any way broken by the melting of the Ring, because according to Tolkien they fled to their homelands; so they lived into the Fourth Age, where they mostly made peace with the "Reunited Kingdom", but there were a few clans who continued to fight, but Aragorn rode forth to finally subdue them.
@Yams: Your reply to my reply is probably the best. Thanks especially for seeing the truth given by my logic.

I don't know if this has been previously brought up, but here are some of my ideas.
I feel like all evil factions should get Melkor as their ring hero. All good factions should get Turin Turambar. This would make sense because it is described that Turn will one day come back during Dagor Dagoroth ("the battle to end all battles") and go head-to-head with Melkor. I know this has nothing to do with the Rings necessarily but I think it would be a cool idea...
Another idea would be to give the evil factions Melkor (or some could get Ungoliant), and each good faction would get a specific Vala. Dwarves would get Aule the Smith, Men would get Tulkas the Strong, Elves would get Ulmo or Manwe etc.
My last idea is that all evil factions get Sauron as normal and all good factions get a super upgraded Aragorn, wielding Narsil. The normal Aragorn would have his ranger sword. If you are the Men faction and already have the standard Aragorn, then he would turn into the Ring hero version once you get it. This would avoid having two Aragorns lol.
Just some of my thoughts...
