Remic and World Builder?

Yes, I know it's Remix and not Remic




Anyway, I just downloaded remix and started to play. I don't care about the bugs and missing GLA, its the coolest mod ever. Period.

But, because of the fantastic, unbelievably aggressive AI that always expands into the South West, some major map modifications are necessary. So, I opened the good ole worldbuilder, the loader screen popped up as always, and this came up:

ASSERTION FAILURE: INI::load, cannot open file 'Data\Scripts\Scripts.ini'


Ignore yields a runtime error, abort closes the program, and retry results in an error report prompt.

Hmmm, I wonder why it can't open Scripts.ini. O ,wait, I deleted it... The install instructions told me to do so.

after, go back to the data folder, and then go into the Scripts folder. delete all the files in there, so it is empty. then go back to the window where the remix files were and drag the file named SkirmishScripts.scb into the Data\Scripts folder. that should be the only file in there

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Data\Scripts

Whoops.

For certain reasons, my old ZH script file is gone and can't be put back. Is there an easy way to fix the Map Maker? And has anyone else had this problem?

OK,

I'm not sure which version of the directions you were using, not all of them floating around on the forum were written by myself.

If I wrote that, please show me where and I will correct it. But I think most likely it was from one of my testers who may have been a bit confused. The folder I tell people to delete everything out of is the Data/INI/ folder. I include this in the directions because certain versions of zerohour have extra files there that will prevent the mod from loading.

What I do, and generaly recomend in the scripts folder is rename the SkermishScripts.scb to SkermishScripts.original. Then paste in the copy from Remix. You should not delete the scripts.ini file.

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

I think no one else knew about the problem, the directions are old, so I don't blame the tester at all. This is a result of my utter stupidity, as I deleted the old script files myself. The old csf and ini files are still saved somewhere though.

What I do, and generaly recomend in the scripts folder is rename the SkirmishScripts.scb to SkirmishScripts.original. Then paste in the copy from Remix. You should not delete the scripts.ini file.

Thank you for clarifying. But would anyone be so kind as to upload the original ZH "scripts.ini" file, and whatever else needs to be in that folder? This should be the directory:

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Data\Scripts


I seem to have misplaced some script files, and I would love for someone to attach them to a post.

I will edit my post. That was made by me a long long time ago. The way I used to install it, with no problems (even when playing online) was to remove all the files in there and just have the remix one. Never gave me any trouble, until recently!
