if you arent good(like me)
play against SWG on challenge mode
she will build one tomahawk storm wich she will keep firing at your internet centers black markets or drop zones

dont get very close to her base or she will use stealth fighters turtle in and wait untill you get rank 5
then kill her off with your superweapons and superunits

CAPSLOCK IS THE CRUISECONTROLL FOR COOL

DUDE I'M OGING TO BE 20 THATS THE OLDEST I HAVE EVER BEEN!!!

Another option is to play a map with 3 or more players, and ally with one AI player. Then you can get used to the gameplay and the armies. I personally like the Iron Dragon and Twilight Flame maps for learning. If you put yourself in the back, then the other armies can help defend you from the enemies. It also provides a LOT of action with 8 armies going at it ;)
If you are looking for a specific map I've made, and cannot find it in the forum, feel free to PM me and ask for it.
Or, if you want me to try to make you a specific map. Feel free to PM me with the details on how you want it to look/work and I will do my best to make the map you're looking for.

But why isn't Easy and Medium AI available? Will it be added to the next Contra release?

It was discussed before and only easy would be added for newbie training purpose.
Very Hard and Insane would still be there.

Easy is not available in Contra 007. But it will be implemented in Contra 008.
Medium AI will not be implemented at all: it will be easy, hard and insane. Insane will become harder than now.

Why is Medium AI left out?

Original Medium and Hard AIs are just too less challenging. They're dumb and easy to destroy.
Thus, the new Hard and Insane AIs take over.

I know this thread is very old, but I found a good solution for testing.

Some prefer to have easy AI in order to test all the things.

However, I found a good way to test pretty much all the things in Contra more or less in peace.

Some Maps have a crippled AI, so they build the base with all defenses and many, many units but never attack. Usually only with a few Infantry units. I once had a map perfect for such things, but i would have to search for it again.

Anyway. It's easy to destroy their defenses and some of the units, who usually go and attack intruders to rank up. Then retreat, build superweapons or test general powers or units and so on.

Only thing is, that the AI will rank up for killing your units and will use general powers and superweapons (I think) once ranked up.

This is perfect for newer players like me, who want to test everything in peace first.

Edit: The main Map I used back then is: Summer Dreams 2004 Extended.

Don't know where you can download it now-a-days. I got it today via downloading a mappack of 2002 maps.

While the AI can be buggy at times because of the narrow Map, it still does it's job. Figured out the AI works best on the right side of the map.

In the next version, difficulty will be slightly reduced on Easy. Any map with narrow space for base building will prevent the AI from working properly (Generals AI has a minimum required base building space). Not to mention that GLA Assault and Stealth AI have script errors in 009 Beta 2, which cripple them even more.
