I dunno what global warming even is anymore.  Last I checked, this is one of the coolest summers in Indiana history, and we're expected to have one of the coldest winters here soon as well.  The only thing warming up is Al Gore's 1985 Amiga so he can calculate more predictions of the future with his 4.5 kilobyte processor.

Vast, overwhelming scientific consensus on human activity being the largest driving factor. It's an unfortunate reality that the first couple posters in this thread decided was bullshit due to their own brief 'research', which is pretty funny.

That's always why the term climate change in now preferred to global warming, global warming can imply to the layman that it will always get warmer all the time everywhere, which is not the case. Rather, extremes will be seen in increasing frequency with the overall global temperature average increasing by a degree or so, and precipitation will redistribute rather significantly. Look at the American Southwest, especially the water levels behind the Hoover Dam in Lake Mead. After finally being there, it's shocking to see where the water level was to where the it is now.

I'm still not entirely convinced that humanity is the driving factor behind climate change. Climate change is indeed very real, but I hold a bit of skepticism on that area since this idea has been floating around since the 1970s that we were driving the planet towards a cooling trend. Now it's just turned into the opposite. Science is not an infallible entity. Recently, however, we've found that the ozone is repairing itself [1] [2]. So, that's good news and related.

The? No. But the Earth's climate system is very fragile and susceptible to the slightest changes due in part to the numerous feedback mechanisms. For example, Earth's albedo. Ice and snow reflect the sun's rays back into space very well, so wen just a slight increase in global temperature melts some of the ice cap and glaciers (as is what has happened), the temperature will increase further due to less rays being reflected, and so on. 

 

So is it solely humanity? No. Think of it more as a pebble starting a landslide.

Its not global its solar system wide. Our sun is getting more intense, and you will be just fine. That is all. And yes, our fuel sources are fucking retarded, but thats the way its supposed to be. Get back to work.
