Name: Ashling
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Weapons: Hand-and-a-half sword, seax, healing magic and some telekinesis, often using it to increase the accuracy of her attacks. The hand-and-a-half is across her back and the seax is on her left hip. She wields them in a two sword style

Class: Outcast Paladin
History: She was cast out of the order of Paladins shortly after disregarding an order to attack someone she was ordered to slay. Her sword, shield and armour were taken from her and she was quite literally thrown out of the Maughold. She (after some extremely excessive drinking) swore vengeance against the Palatinate, and wandered for two years before deciding to return to the Maughold to satisfy her vengeance. She picked up two longswords as well as a tattered black overcoat with steel pauldrons. She also wears a plain headband.
Alignment: Chaotic Good; she's willing to do just about anything to bring victory to good.

Hopefully this is good.

Sounds good to me. Also sounds like a perfect candidate for our cause, so welcome aboard! A single concern: how long are these longswords of hers? Because a genuine longsword would be a two-handed weapon for a man, let alone a woman. Unless you're thinking thin sabre-style blades, that could work. But remember to keep her abilities within her physical boundaries.

I was thinking something to the effect of the sword in this image, except far simpler looking.

For the records, this is why I like katana. Also, how you use a sword is dependent on how it's balanced. Technically, I probably could pull off a bastard sword pair, as they are made to be wielded one or two handed.

In there yes that's quite sound, but in practice it'd be a b!tch to use two hand-and-a-half swords in conjunction with one another. Why not just have her have one that functions as a focus for white magic?

Hence why I said probably could pull it off, although, the largest hampering thing is the longer hilts.

So, I'll go with two one hand swords. In any case, I might change the weapons if the need arises.

Ah.. its a character in a story, technicalities about the actual difficulties in wielding two hand and a half swords don't matter :p

I say you should get rid of the telekinesis. You already tried a psychic character, give something else a go. Maybe have her use white magic seen as she is an (ex)paladin.

However i must note a great deal of similarity to a certain other 20-something years old, human, longsword wielding, female ex-paladin that has recently joined our group...

SWG, realism does matter. We're trying to make this not absolutely ridiculous, remember? Practicalities like a tiny person wielding two big swords do matter.

And I think the primary difference between this character and Astariel would be in the mentality. Ashling here got kicked out of the Palatinate for refusing to obey orders and is now out for revenge on them. Astariel is just all uptight and ultra-noble to the point of excess. From this, I'd guess that Ashling isn't the type to take a stray bandit under her wing after first offering to give him everything she owns so she doesn't have to get violent. I'd guess she'd just get violent and slice his nads off. :p

If you want two swords, you could go for something like these. That'd work. But Mike's right, that sword up there is very much a hand-and-a-half blade, not for faint-hearted or not-obscenely-muscular.

Hope that works.

SWG, Vithar and Ashling differ on how their telekinesis works. Vithar's was his magic, while Ashling uses it only to aid in her attacks.

I'd guess that Ashling isn't the type to take a stray bandit under her wing after first offering to give him everything she owns so she doesn't have to get violent. I'd guess she'd just get violent and slice his nads off.

Indeed.

Well then, I guess it's time for Ashling to join up with the posse. See you in the field!

Of course. If you don't mind, I think I'm going to start her off away from the group...perhaps they see her mauling a Paladin. In fact...think I will do that.
