When asking for help with an issue, it helps if you follow these guidelines:

  • Have a look around the community before posting your question. With the games being almost ten years old, there are tutorials for practically everything to suit your needs. We're not expecting you to hunt down the exact tutorial for your issue every time, but at least show us you've made a little bit of effort.
  • Don't post expecting someone to do something for you, whether it's complex coding or graphical work. 99.99% of the time, you will be told "No", and it's not the best way to ingratiate yourself to the community. While you may have better things to do with your time than making your mod, others will definitely have better things to do with their time than making your mod.
  • If you are posting about a coding issue, post all relevant code. e.g. just unit code on its own is useless. Post that along with the code for the weapon, warhead and projectile. This will save you some hassle later on, and means it's a lot easier for us to get to the bottom of your problem.
  • Give as much detail as you can about your issue. Something vague and basic like "I'm having an internal error and my mod doesn't work" will not help you in any way. Good things to mention are what was happening just prior to the game crashing; what have you changed between the last time the game worked and when it crashed; and even the specific timing of when the game crashed - i.e. when you clicked on a sidebar icon, when the unit / structure was ready, etc.
  • If you are curious as to what a tag does, try looking it up on ModEnc.
  • Lastly, taking a look at this topic by John Galt on PPM might help some of you: link

Keep these guidelines in mind, and life will be easier for yourself and all of us.
