This was possibly the best cartoon ever made back in the day. I enjoyed it, and I still enjoy it.

Sounds familiar... could you remind me with a link to an episode of your choosing?

Invader Zim is the shit, but nothing beats Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy.

Anime does.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

Since when? If it was ever good - ever - it has since been ruined by Naruto and furry-fuel.

That said, I love me some Avatar :)

And agreed, Invader Zim was the shit. So was Samurai Jack, Megas XLR, Ed Edd 'n Eddy, and a few others I dimly recall.

Anime is not the same thing, hence cannot be compared.

Ah but those are crappy animes. I'm talking about the good, dark stuff, like Death Note.

Ah, I remember Zim now. It wasn't my favorite toon, but I found myself watching it. ... Reminds me of the Cleveland Show... ... why am I still watching it?

Ah... good ol' Death Note. Nothing beats a bunch of dubbed japs screaming around while doing illogical things for the sake of violence. Well... besides everything (maybe Avatar as an exception) that was already mentioned in this topic.

Death Note my beak! Get some Pinky and the Brain in ya'!

I never watched Invader Zim,It didn't air that much here though I hear DIGI is a fan.

Johnny Bravo for the win :)
I have season 1 on DVD and it's awesome can't wait to get season 2.
Tintin was awesome too.

Dangermouse,Bananaman,Avenger Penguins,Trapdoor,Widget etc were also really cool.
Oh and Twins of Destiny as well of course :p

I watched a bit of Death Note and it didn't appeal to me,a lot of my friends are into Bleach which is another one I don't follow.
The big Animes for me are Zoids,Dragonball (Z,GT),Cowboy Beebop,Samurai Champloo,Ghost and the Shell and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Break dancing into the hearts of millions

Because comparing the same things usually provides some really interesting differences, right?

It is always ridiculously stupid to compare two contrasting ideas or objects that it just doesn't matter. There's really no point in doing so.

Sorry, what? A cartoon's a fucking cartoon, regardless of the age-range, intellect or ability to comprehend absurdly abstract metaphor of the intended audience. And last I looked, anime was cartoons. In the same way 'graphic novels' are comic-books. It doesn't matter how you dress it up and make it seem more acceptable to tell to friends over the age of 14, there's no denying it. There's no shame in accepting it either. :)

Not a whole episode. I found myself watching the middle and end and not being able to make sense of anything. I found myself that way with Yu-Gi-Oh a few times too, so maybe it's a translation thing.
