So, it's about time I started using this forum for something else than just blabbering about.

Basically, I've started looking a bit deeper into Unity3d, which now is pretty much "free forever". No more indie licenses for 200$, just unity for free and unity pro for 1500$.

So I'm thinking of getting a personal forum for my fresh recruits and modders who are tired of messing about making stuff for other games. A place where we can plan out some testing games and share information and tutorials. Basically a local virtual pub where we will gather around a table and conspire.

Anyway, who is the guy I have to pester to get a forum up and running?

The conspiracy of Dukes approves the approval of the Institutes of Boomer, and awaits further letters of approval from other members of the virtual world :)

Approved :)

You'll get your own forums in the Revora Hosted Projects for now. If it turns out to be a very big thing we might consider turning it into a full division later on.

All I need from you is a list of forum titles, descriptions and members who moderate said forums.

Great stuff, i'll do my best to make it worthy of Division forum status :p

I'll just figure out a basic list of subforums to begin with.

1. "General - Unity3d Discussion Forum" //first forum, with subforums:
1.1 - "Projects - The Planning/Development zone" //subforum for the different projects,
1.1.1 - "The 2d scroller project" // first project
1.1.1.1 - "Developer's zone" //dev corner, needs some sort of password thingie here I think.
1.2 - "Library - The Tutorial/Knowledge zone" //the subforum for gathering up handy links and tricks for how to do stuff in unity. might need more sub-forums in here if things explode for different fields, like scripting, UI etc etc. but for now i don't want to overspecialise.

That should be enough to start with. Go get them :)

Edit: Primarily it will be me that moderates, but there will be a few more coming along in the future. If Boomer gets interested enough I'll allow him to join up.

Unreal devkit ey? meh.

Unity3d is pretty much great for me. I'm not going to create a AAA-game any time soon with a few friends, and Unity3d has all the stuff I need to get something done in a reasonable time.

Since when was UDK AAA-only?

Unity's strength is it's multiplatform support and complete extensibility. UDK is actually probably the better choice for rapid development :thumbsupdrool:

It probably is for someone that has worked with the program before. I won't say which one is better or not because I haven't delved to deeply into UDK. One of the main reasons I'm so hyped for Unity3d is that the documentation and resources are easily available. Not quite up on Maya-levels at times, but pretty damn good.

Also, once you know how to use it, you can pretty much create whatever you would want. FPS, plattformer, racing game, RTS, (MMO)RPG etc etc.. I'm not saying UDK can't do that aswell, but its certainly oriented more towards the FPS part of 3d.
