How do I make a new fortress?

I could really do with someone pointing me to a tutorial or giving me some pointers. I have attampted to do it on my own but with no sucsess.

I already know what building I want to use. I have made a Base file with it and then edited an existing fortress file to try make a fortress file for it. When I try to build the new fortress with the builder, the "PHANTOM_STRUCTURE" is invisable and the "Cant Build" curser is just a big red squear. When I start to build, the "ACTIVELY_BEING_CONSTRUCTED" animation works fine but when its complete, the whole thing just dissapears.

Can anyone help me at all?

Ok, just solved the "PHANTOM_STRUCTURE" issue but still no New Fortress when building is complete.

Sorry but I cant help you,
I just wish someone add a tutorial of how to create a new fortress and other buildings (bit of modeling, animation and coding)

that wold help so much dont you think??? :p

Oh, Absolutly! I've been tinkering around with it for weeks and weeks now and still getting nowhere.

And I know theres a lot of people who know how to make them because I have played loads of mods with new fortresses and buildings. It's kinda an obvious topic really, Im supprised no-one's done a tutorial on it already.

Yeah true

Btw, I am curius now. So you are using an existing model for your citadel is it? with the buildplots at the sides and so on... And when it is built the model just does not show up?
But..is it there or just doesnt exist. I could guess is maybe something to do with the ini, but again i dont really know about buildings, i dont understand how
the worldbuilder and the BSE files works :(

I began with an existing fortress, the Arnor one,. I tried to swap the actual fortress building for the Rohan Golden Hall but absoluty nothing appears after building is complete, no building and no build plots. There is just Nothing there, I can even build again on the exact same spot and everything.
I got a few pointers on some earlier posts but couldn't make anything of it.

oh man! that really sucks!

I will look at it tomorrow, I will need to get a operative fortress soon!
Im just trying to solve a little problem with a spell for a horde, grrrr!

Cum'on guys, someone out there's gotta know how to make a custom fortress. Or, where a tutorial is.
I've looked every where for a tutorial but can't find anything.

I might have a tut for it :D I would have written it, but it would be very confusing. It can be applied to BFME2 and ROTWK. Dont be biased and just read :) For the part that says the other tut, dont worry about it. From what you have said, you have copied all the code from the golden hall and copied it into Arnor Fortress so that part is done. Also dont worry about the player template, that part you have covered (AFAIK).

Just one question, how works if I want to create my own citadel from scratch? how would I add the model into WB???

I didnt make the tut, search around the WB Forums for making a mod work with WB.

Righty, I Finally have the new fortress . Thanks a million again Drogoth.

The only problem im having now is that the Fortress only last 5 seconds before it gets destroyed and I lose the game. I've looked through the .BSE file and the fortress file but I can't see anything obvious that might cause it.
Anyone have any ideas what's causing it?

Well, I also got it by reading this tutorial, but my problem is that I dont have any expansion corners. Are they working for you @Titan Cronus?

Yep, I have expansion pads on mine. Im only using existing pads though, as I can't get any of my stuff to show up in the WB. When I first tried it, I had no expansion pads though (I'd forgotten to add them to the BSE file :grin: ). have you put the pads in the BSE file and in the coding for the fortress?

When you did your BSE file, what faction did you set the fortress as beloning to? Was it one of the existing ones or have you made a totally new faction? Because in mine, there's no actual faction for my army (mine is a new faction) so I had to make one, (plyrMiddlemen or what ever I called, can't remember off hand). I was wandering if that would have anything to do with the fortress dieing after 5 seconds?

Got it working now ... but not with the bse file I created new but with an edited bse file from the men_fortress.bse ... just edit that file and do not replace the PadCorners in there, then save it as fortress_rohan.bse and do the hex-edit thing with the file and than you have the corners. Placing them newly doesnt work somehow ^^
