Can you make the .dvd extract other things like characters? I'm trying to somehow add and edit characters on maps in Desperados with an HEX editor. For now i could only change they look and the starting items for playable characters. Can i somehow change an enemy into a civilian or anything? Why did no one released a map editor or something.  :whatoa:

No, I didn't manage to extract anything else from the .dvd.

The developers of Desperados (or was it the publisher?) decided not to release any tools :thumbsdownsmiley:

So as long as we haven't figured out how to interpret all the sections inside the .dvd files, there will be no map editor.

Here is an interesting screenshot from Desperados:

250360h.jpg

It's the demo level, with Cooper as Dillon, Doc as the sheriff, and they are neutral to the bandits. The "lino" in front of the saloon is also replaced by "Desperado1". Modding Desperados is quite fun...  :thumbsuphappy:

What I am wondering since a few days: Is it possible to make new missions for Desperados? Are there any mapping tools available?

Also a widescreen patch would be a great thing, imo...

I have met one of the lead developers of Desperados 1 but 10 years ago, he didn't agree to give us the editors because he was not allowed to. Now, he's not able to anymore, or maybe he says so. Anyway, he told me additional missions were created but never released.

One solution would be to build a petition for Desperados' source code to be open sourced so everybody can get into it and create new missions. It would be cool because there are many movies and so on for inspiration. And this great game needs more.

Just that online petitions are wasted time. Even if you get thousands of peeps signing it, in the end it means nothing.

optimistisch bleiben!

But anyway, recoding the game might be faster.

What is the progress for conversion of Desperados to commandos, Do you guys think we can use desperados map in Destination paris 1.42 mod?

Same with Robin hood maps.

A new map is available:

screenshot.jpg

I don't have much time at the moment, so the map is still empty.

If anyone is interested in creating a cool mission, please go ahead! :thumbsuphappy:

You can download the new map here (the two missions created by The Call of War are also included):

Download ZIP (14 MB)

Read this if you have troubles installing the maps:

@ah1990:

Technically it's not a big deal to use the Desperados maps in Destination Paris 1.42 (at least the maps that are already available in Commandos BEL). Personally, I wouldn't want to have those maps in DP because they don't really fit into the mod. But that's just my opinion.

Did you run the .bat to install the missions or did you manually copy the files?

The ComDirEx.exe simply extracts (and renames) the archive WARGAME.DIR.

In my opinion any new mission is welcome. I know that work in c1 maps for c2 make something insane the game, and would be better a 3d map like the canstay´s maps. But create new 3d maps are really hard.

For my part Im busy working in the kwi mission, I am in step 4/15 for end it, I try to finish 1 step per day but I can not edit everydays. If anybody want create c2 missions in c1 maps will be funny, but Im not able to do it now.

The name of the new mission will be "the gold of the train" (secret meeting 4) and will be the last secret meeting mission.
