Now... I don't usually partake in Southpark, but the last two episodes revealed something I didn't know. Apparently, you're not allowed to slander Mohamed or the terrorists will kill you. No really... Episode 200 was about giving Tom Cruise Mohamed, but they weren't allowed to show his face... or barely anything. Actually they went too far by putting him in a U-haul and murmuring things. The creators of Southpark got death threats if they aired the next episode (2 parter), but they did anyway last night but bleeped the ENTIRE second half of the episode.

Here's what I'm wondering... what if we slandered his holinesses name here at Revora? ;) ... Does anyone dare? Will the terrorists threaten us? I'm more than curious.

To test the theory, we need some hard-core bashing on Mohamed. Something that'll make that stupid prophet look even dumber than SHE already is.

Oooo... riske'. Those are all admirable attempts, but I had another image of Mohammed in mind:

But seriously... it's pretentious for these whiny goat bombers to think their religion and icon is so great, even those who don't give a crap can't say anything bad. Shows how weak of faith they are if their followers get insulted by non-believers so easily.

I think what bothers most people is that the vast majority of Christians don't give a shit if you satirise Jesus, Buddhists are all about their fat dude with the pies and the tree and whatever, but the Muslims get all up in your grill whenever you even mention their prophet. A hundred years from now they'll look back on this period of their religion and say "What were we like, guys? Man, what a bunch of dicks our ancestors were." But it'll be too late, because everyone else will have left the planet in a haze of pollution and unbreathable smog.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Bashing Mohammed? Oh right... I thought you meant something of a more sexual nature then I'm intrigued. Goes to show some people can't take a joke really. Death threats over a cartoon? What next all-out nuclear warfare because of a movie?
They say the future is only as predictable as the past..... Probably because they're the same thing.

Well see for yourself:
http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/

Episode 200 was the one that went too far and 201 is the result. 201 is being 'processed' at the moment, so it might not be up yet still. I found them more entertaining than most Southpark episodes anyway, so might as well see what the fuss is.

So if I wrote 3 full paragraphs on why Mohamed is retarded and gay, they would probably hack me find where I live and kill me? Or send me a message and threaten to kill me?

That's what I'm wondering... the extent they go too. They care if a TV show is publicly insulting their holiness, but do they care is a small time modding and mapping forum with a big mouth says anything blasphemous? Type your festering insults about the guy... there's only one way to find out if they care.

The issue is Sharia (Islamic Law):

According to Sharia it is forbidden to picture Mohamed in any way ... drawing, painting, statue or whatever ... and if you do (especially in a satirical way) the consequence is most likely death-penalty.

This has been the case for centuries ... in Islamic countries.

One could be deceived to believe, that Sharia should only apply to Muslims ... wrong, not anymore.

The controversy following the publishing of the Mohamed-cartoons (the Motoons) in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten was the first time, that the Islamic world (OIC and other international Islamic organizations) insisted that this command in Sharia should also be valid for non-Muslims.

Prior to that event, the Wahabi's of Saudiarabia did use huge amounts of petro-dollars in lobbying British parliamentarians, to get the "Racial and Religious Hatred Act" approved in the House of Commons. The outburst of emotions (burning of embassies etc., clearly orchestrated by the authorities in some cases) was used by the Wahabis and OIC to put the pressure on British politicians, and to get the Act approved.

There are numerous other examples of this pattern.

So, the episode referred to by Pasidon, is one a small part of this agenda:

  • Any critique of Islam and it's prophet prohibited by law in non-Muslim countries.
  • Muslims to be given special rights, by given legal authority to Sharia Courts.
  • The implementation of Sharia Law as a guiding principle in all legislation, i.e. the commands of Sharia Law should also apply to non-Muslims.
Sadly, an increasing number of western politicians and media seems to accept this, exercising either censorship or self-censorship, the excuse usually being a political correct "respect for religious feelings".

For the Islamists, it's all about politics. Just that.

A good breakdown there, I couldn't be arsed to write something like that when i first saw the thread so I waited for someone else to do it ;).

Muslims take their "no-picturing-the-prophet-or-allah" rules pretty serious, and the more aggressive muslims think their rules should apply to everyone. Islam is lagging behind in their philosophy where religion should control everything, while the secular world is more up-to-date and have split power into different more democratic divides.

I think Mohamed needs to grow up. Seriously, if he's really devine and holy, then he'll just laugh at our attempts to ridicule him.

I think Mohamed's fursona is a goat
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

Pretty much the point of the episode was that you can show Jesus watching porn on the Internet or Buddha snorting coke, but you can't show Muhammad at all without ridiculous outcry.

Someday soon someone might demand, that this one be taken down:

The North Frieze on the Supreme Court building in Washington, DC features a bas-relief sculpture of Mohammed, among several other historical law-givers. He is in the center of this image holding a curved scimitar.

I agree with Allathar if Mohamed is so great then why does he give a shit what other people think of him. If Posting a picture of their holy goat Mohamed pisses them off so much then I'm pretty sure we are gonna get a warning of some kind.

I wonder if it counts for ASCII illustrations of Mohamed
8=========>

The reason radical Muslims don't allow to show Mohamed is because of penis envy.
Mohamed was hung.
That should do it ;)

It should be noted that it's only really the radicals that do the death threats most Muslims would probably just get pissed off.

There is a cultural faux pas with aboriginals where they can't look at images of people (I think mostly Fellow Aboriginals) who have passed away.
On TV here there are advisories about it whenever there is any show regarding Aboriginals.

Personally as a muslim I really don't see the problem on this one. I mean lets get it right... In South Park Jesus, had an M16, killed a lot of people and some other crap I can't be bothered to write and nobody said anything although those WBC assholes might have but who gives a fuck right ? South Park does one little bit about Muhammed and everyone goes nuts?

Lol watch this forum is going to be attacked by suicide bombers threatening to blow up the internet ;) God I love hating on the idiots in my religion (see what I did there ;) )

You're Muslim, Gine? Heck, that's awesome. You've proven that just because you believe in something doesn't mean you have to blow yourself up to fight criticism. You're my new favorite. Sorry Allathar...

Pretty much the point of the episode was that you can show Jesus watching porn on the Internet or Buddha snorting coke, but you can't show Muhammad at all without ridiculous outcry.

He he... I found myself horribly amused at that. Christians and Buddhists don't care because they know it's just stupid TV. The goat bombers probably think South Park was filmed live as a reality TV show in Belgium.
