I'm expecting many volcanoes.

There's two in the jungle, the mother and the baby as i call them, the baby's quite big and he's destroyed a good chunk of pleasant land around him. Snow shot's inc now! Take in mind i AM redoing the whole map. Thus, the crappy parts are still being worked on.

Hmm... looking better than your last. Yet the ground's snow texture should be added more around the mountains, also adding drifts. The wind blowing in one direction will cause the snow to blow up higher in one direction.

I'm going to give it a northern wind, so I'll make drifts on the frontside of mountains and hills. Thanks for the logic :xcahik_: and pas i assure you Far Harad is still my top map, you'll see when i get to jungles. That's definitely my strong point. Other than that, thank you sir.

EDIT: Here's Mama the volcano. WIP of course....

Now that's a very nice volcano, so don't forget to add lots of smoke! And sounds of dirt falling.

Well, possible the proportion - for a volcano it really needs to be huge, but off course you have map and playability constraints. Perhaps the pits are too deep/not rounded enough.
When you texture the area around the volcano add lots of black ash in a small berth and lots of grey/brown dirt (I think MordorDirt? Not sure - haven't mapped in AGES). The volcano would have a significant effect on the surrounding terrain.

That's just mama volcano, baby volcano is bigger, but lower to the ground. And yea, the volcanic soil is contributing to the fertility of the ground around it and what isn't blacked out by the ground is dense jungle and oasis. The back part will be thick, thick jungle, perfect for somebody with a lumber mill. And yea, there's going to be lots of rocks and ash/smoke around the base. Strange how the opposite side of the map is snow...
Speaking of which! Is there a way to make an INI for the map that leaves snow on half the map and rain on the rest? If not i need the rain INI. And the snowy peaks will have a little surprise easter egg in them: someone's summer lair :xcahik_:

That's usually only after they erupt, but it would be cool. Need an ini guy for that.

The volcano does seem small, and I have a radical solution for that, yet a cool one. Make your entire map look like it's ontop of the volcano... or make your map the volcano. Have it all sort of designed like a plateau with your volcano top hissing and steaming. You can make the entire map like a hill-top of sorts. I had something like this in mind:

Perhaps the volcano there should be less of a domed shape, and more of a gradual increase in slope? It's a bit hard to explain, but the left side of the volcano in the screen is steep, and then begins to level out as it reaches the summit. If you have a look at that pic on tephra, you can see that the gradual slope of the volcano has been formed by a steady deposit of dust/ash/whatever :shiftee: That might help it feel "right " :thumbsupsmiley:

The only other thing could be that the secondary type lava pools are a bit too big/deep? (they're almost as big as the main volcano...hole :wink_new:)
