Time for an update I presume. There has been lots of progress and lots of testing recently and the new version is shaping up pretty nicely. So I was in a good mood and decided to give the Epsilon a tricky support weapon. Ignore Tiberian Twilight references, will you please?

Risen Railgun | available at Research Lab | reload time: TBD | cannot be placed under the shroud


"With his advanced subterranean technology, Yuri is even able to unleash one of his Railgun Towers anywhere on the battlefield once within a period of time. The tower is working thanks to it's own power source, however being seperate from Epsilon defense network, it cannot be repaired and neither can it's power generator be mantained properly - leading to it's shutdown after a while. Nevertheless, Railgun Tower deployed from the underground is a great support to Yuri's forces and a threat to unprepared or unprotected targets."

Other than that - three new maps for skirmish joy - Industrial Strength (2), Angst Driven (2-8) and Infinity Isle (2). The first and third ones are remakes of Red Alert 3 maps and I must say that the first one is a challenging one with lots of possibilities to take your enemy on. Infinity Isle I hated in Red Alert 3 but I decided to overcome what I hate, hehe. The 8-player one is a simple but fun map with limited resources and a big lake which gives advantage to those who establish their shipyards quickly or micro hover units correctly.

Industrial Strength is already available for download, however it is a Terrain Expansion-based version which I don't intend to use in 3.0.

I would also like to turn your attention to an interesting community project lead by neogrant - CNCTube. It's a YouTube-styled website with one primary difference - it's all Command & Conquer! And it needs more C&C videos, that's for sure. :xcahik_: Mental Omega channel will be available there at this location.

Oh, and by the way - there are two people actively on Mental Omega right now - me and mevitar. Help is always welcome, so if you want to give a hand - PM me or send an e-mail to mental.omega.apyr@gmail.com - currently we are looking for a mapper and 2D artist most.

If you are interested in how many maps are there to go, before I say that map expansion of Mental Omega is satisfactory these are the numbers of maps that are missing. Of course, there will be a special testing phase later after which some of them will be dropped so this can slightly increase the number.

2 - for 2 players
2 - for 3 players
2 - for 4 players
1 - for 5 players
2 - for 6 players
3 - for 8 players
12 maps total

Btw, how about reviving the Third Reich faction with a sci-fi edge, they could have laser fences for instance!

Interesting concept...Was the health of the tower made small with purpose of balancing?

It's not supersmall tbh. It's slightly weaker than original Railgun Tower atm. The thing that needed balance is the time in which the tower selfdestructs after being placed. Also, it gets taken down faster if it's being shot at so it isn't like you can place it anywhere near your enemies and be happy about that. :thumbsupsmiley:

It could be lead by someone who assisted Yuri in his plans for world domination, while at the same time secretly planning to backstab him for his own agenda, which is the emergence of a third reich ruled by him.

Upon using the time machine again, to get Yuri from the past, they created the Third Reich. Just like RA3... so it fits perfectly, actually. :)

It could be lead by someone who assisted Yuri in his plans for world domination, while at the same time secretly planning to backstab him for his own agenda, which is the emergence of a third reich ruled by him.

I don't think the Nazis fit anywhere in Command and Conquer, and they better stay this way - non-eixstant.

Red Alert began because Einstein went back and killed Hitler thus stopping the Nazi party rise to power and the Third Reich. These "add teh Nazis!!¬11!!" ideas are so not even funny anymore.
