And still you voted Labour? You know damn well that they only help the immigrants with the taxes you pay, while they could have made uni more affordable for the common people...

You know I'm too young to vote.
You know that I've never expressed an interest in voting Labour. (disclaimer: if I have, it was in desperation at the alternative British parties).
The only viable alternative to Labour are the Conservatives in first past the post, who want to put the tuition fees up.
The Liberal Democrats pledged to scrap the fees, but now that they're in the coalition government they've taken up Ramsay MacDonald's mantle.

And what with having to put two kids through university... argh, you can imagine how crippling that is

I sure can. I'm the third of four kids. Both my older sisters have already done with university, and my brother will be starting in just over a year. Between the four of us, that's over £80k our parents will have spent to try and get us into the real world debt-free, for which we will all be eternally grateful. Because of this, my dad regularly works 12-hour days, and it's just as well he's really damn good at his job, and that the recession didn't affect the nation's need for medical supplies.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Is it worth migrating to Scotland and falsely claiming permanent residency? Tough decision

You could always be a drug dealer. Pays well if you don't get caught. :p Seriously, though, university is fucking expensive, especially down south. My best friend is at Exeter, and his rent is just over £5000 per year. His student loan is £3150 per year. Way to go, student loans company. Then again, I'm up in Sheffield and my rent is just over £3k, and my parents pay it anyway. If your parents can't afford to help you out, university is financially crippling.

By the way, Allathar, under Labour policy British tuition fees are something around £3000 p.a. for Brits, over £10k p.a. for foreigners. What they should have done is closed down all the fake 'universities' that used to be swimming pools and hockey pitches and redirect the funds into the ones that generate worthwhile degree students. Sheffield Hallam is a running joke in this city.

They shouldn't be closed down, but they should never have been upgraded from Polytechnics to Universities.

I live like 50 yards away from a college and it's a darn shame to see what they've done here... it was the cheapest technical college in Ohio 4 years ago. Something about stricter student loan crap, forced meal plans, and over-priced rooms contribute to the very rewarding 12th cheapest in Ohio... they don't even pay me when I do work for them. Gardening isn't free dudes...

Congradulations.
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

It was grad day in Vancouver yesterday. As I headed down to the pub, I saw hundreds of teenagers, confident in their fancy dress outfits, strutting along with girlfriends on their arms, parents trailing at a safe distance. Completely unaware of their future, to be slowly ground down by the rentlessly turning cogs of society.

(:))

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

You're such a delightful ray of sunshine, Nertea. Although, fancy dress graduation? Awesome. Was anyone there as Jesus?

On Sunday, I will receive my undergraduate diploma. I will graduate with a Studio Art Minor and a Bachelor's in Social Work (BSW). After that, I get a week off and then start my curriculum to receive my Master's in Social Work. Taking 5 Master classes this summer... fun. :)
