I've dedicated this entire update to showing off Haldir's awesome new Erebor map. We've worked quite a lot to bring this centrepiece map to life, and well... now I'll just give you some screenshots.

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Dain's throne, Erebor's main gate, and the fortress's Hall of Records

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

The Main Hall, living chambers and armories

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

The Main Gate, Ravenhill and a path to a secret entrance...

Of course, the fortress wouldn't be complete without the closely linked town of Dale:

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

The City Centre, Outskirts and the River Running

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Eastern forces scout for an entrance, while Orcs pour up the River Running and into Dale

The map has a three versus one layout. The main gate is the primary entrance, with a trio of secret entrances providing the Erebor player with possible flanking routes.

Enjoy!

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

I just want to say a huge thanks to the TDH team  Without the insane number of awesome high-quality props that both Nertea and Andros de Nurne made, this map would be nowhere near as good as it turned out to be. And to the rest of the team as well, for the comments, advice and feedback they gave me throughout the often painstaking process :)

I might take a break from mapping for a bit ;)

Very impressive. When you compare this one to the one in bfme 2 it truly makes you realise just how talented this mod team is. Two things i noticed is that there seems to be nazgul on foot and horse (most welcome!) and also a unit ive never seen before next to the nazgul on foot. New unit for Mordor

Very good job indeed, gratz for creating a masterpiece.

The TDH team strikes again with amazing material! How big is the map (dimensions)?

My only major complaint at the moment is the guardrail on the main bridge. It's completely black and pixelated. I'm sure Nertea can work his magic and fix that up a bit. Or perhaps you could just remove the guardrail completely as I don't think its absolutely needed. ;)

Love it, especially those bookcases and other props - perfect detail!
World builder has done a faulty three-way blend here http://nertea.the3rd...date/ereb05.jpg

Yeah, I meant to raise it in the staff forums. When Nert originally showed it, I thought it was a Worldbuilder render issue that would look fine in-game and didn't bring it up.

It's because I'm using alpha test on the railings instead of blend, due to things that have happened before when I've used blending in large quantities. I may see if I can do LoD models for it if people are bothered, that way it doesn't punish people who have less powerful computers. I'm more bothered by the fact that it doesn't cast shadows, myself ;)

I'm glad people like the map . It'll be in the next public update, though I'm not quite sure when it'll be.

I'm also pleased that me sticking some new units in there was not fruitless. I'm going on vacation for a month, but when I get back, you might see something.

So. Cruel.

Actually, I'll be gone all of July as well, so the timing works out perfectly for me :p

@ Rob: the map is 425x400

There's also a gameplay incentive for defending Dale, besides the obvious outpost. If you look at that 15th screenshot, you might see what i'm talking about :p
