Have you considered releasing what you have as version 0.9? Lots o people would appreciate that.:)

I've considered it a lot in fact... The current build just isn't ready for public consumption though. During a build cycle a lot of new things get added, and during the process they aren't always presentable. There's buttons with no labels, missing buttons, and units that have been broken for testing reasons. Until I polish those out it's just not ready. Once I've done that, I can do AI and you can have a 1.0 release instead of a .9... but the .9 just isn't ready.

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

What percentage would you say your done before your laptop broke? Is all your data safe on that laptop? And what does the monument do exactly?

So what does the monument do? What does the sw general have to clean toxins and radiation, and how much power does a sw power plant produce?

The monument (and Sky Net) cause random general's powers to attack the enemy at random locations on a timer. The monument has no "aimed" ability, and no count down timer... The monument spawns an attack every 2 minutes, but you don't control where or what it attacks. If you build several monuments the enemy base is flooded with a constant and devastating stream of attacks.

I'd have to check what SupW has for cleaning toxins... it used to be "clean up tomahawks" but that base defense is gone. I think she has an ambulance though.

SupW general's basic power plant creates the normal 8-12 that other USA factions have. the Adv. Power plant creates 48 I think, I'd have to check the exact numbers.

@Tomeistery:

Dude, no offence but just play the damn game, it's way better when you play it opposed to when you read about it! ;-)

The monument calls GLA powers from any GLA general, plus a few custom abilities. It will only attack the enemy.

it's ok... I've suggested this too, but he's mentioned he won't be able to play until *friday?* Anyhow, I really don't mind answering the questions too much. A little reading could find most of the answers, but I enjoy the work I've done and I don't get many chances to talk about it.

Well I guess it's okey to be interested but I find it a bit of a nuisance to search for posts that are useful for me (news about the mod) amongst all this spam like messages.

By the way you said somewhere that the board has become quite passive. I agree (unfortunately) but I think you might like to know that at my student home (not sure what it's called in English, a place where university students live together close to school, not with roommates but just each his or her own room) about 15 students follow the news around remix with great interest. We organise lan party’s for remix nearly every 2 weeks! I myself read the board almost every time I have a few spare minutes and internet connection :-)

that's super cool to hear. Tonight I'll be making my first real effort to pick things back up and later this week I should have progress up and rolling proper again. It'll give you something to look forward too reading when you check the forum. Once I've got another public release done I would love to join one of those lan games. Maybe it can be hosted on Hamachi.

We can try, altough our internet is quite bad there. Even over lan about half the games can't be finished because of connection interrupted events but I would love to play with the master! (against wouldn't be the best idea I guess lol)

Since this topic apparently has been degraded to spam topic (according to the title) I would say I also think Pend should be pretty good at the game, even if he ain't good at C&C he still knows what the weaknesses and strengths are of the different generals, way better than anyone else :D

(btw I found my account again, me = Guest_Vince_* = Guest_316, Wessour_* )

I usually have 3 general styles of play...

Play to Win
Play for Fun
Play to Test

I used to play a lot, and was much better than I am now. I spend a lot more time modding than playing, but you're right, I know every unit and faction inside and out and that makes a difference. When I do play an RTS for fun it's usually Dawn of War or Company of Heroes. I modded DoW for a year while I was in Iraq and had tones of fun. I had a 13 man gaming group and we LAN'ed every night for 4 months.

When I play to Win I usually win, especially 1v1, more than 95% of the time. I don't think it's because I'm a better RTS player, but rather because I have intimate knowledge about the factions. I know what general to use and how to use them. Even in RTS games I don't mod I usually have a strong grasp on the balance just because it's "what I do".

When I play for fun I pick a fight with every other player at the same time and end up fighting everyone.. tones of fun. I'll usually have the highest kills but I seldom win that way. The more players there are the more likely I am to play for fun, and the less likely I'll win... but the more fun it is.

Playing to test... it's a grey zone... sometimes my reasons for playing really start to blend together. For example, the last time I played online vs a guy from the forum he was an early game infantry spammer (nothing wrong with that, it was just his style). I wanted to test Micro General vs early infantry spams because I knew he had a weak spot in the balance... So, I played to Win, knowing I was at a huge disadvantage. Even when I out built him 3 to 1 Micro General couldn't stop the hundreds of infantry... It was a productive test and I started working on an infantry re-balance to effect all generals.

Often I'll play a faction I expect to be at a terrible disadvantage and try to win with it... Its fun, it's testing, and I get to try hard to win but expecting to loose.... knowing I'll win isn't any fun, it's better when it's a surprise.

It will be in the next few months at the latest. I've finally got my system back and can pickup where I left off.

When I make a major announcement it will be in the news topic, the general forum, and on ModDB.

I usually have 3 general styles of play...

For C&C I only have the play for fun type of game. Against my buddies I win 99% of the games but that's because I'm the only one who played C&C before, I only loose if I take a random general and I have some really tough luck (me flame vs. super weapon eg.) and/or when everyone attacks me and not each other.

But my win/loss ratio doesn't mean I'm good versus a veteran player. In contorary it made me a bit careless. And when we play about 4/5 of our gaming sessions go accompanied by jenever or duvel (gin or a strong beer). Not because we are useless drunks but because gaming becomes really funny when your reactions are sluggish and you start doing stupid stuff. When we game at my room my neighbour always gets angry for us having so much fun :D

Nevertheless I would like to play a (competitive) game with/against you. I already know the outcome. (you versus our top 3 and you would still stand a chance I think) But that doesn't make it less fun. I only fear the dreaded mismatch error. We even get it over our lan.

The ini that Creator sent me has helped a lot with mismatches, but it still can't fix them. ZH just has some bad network code.
