From what I can see I won because mine looked exactly like the original concept art so I got max points for accuracy...

That was one reason. Another was because MadHQ was let down by normals, particularly on the darker angles.

New rule: The judges' decision is final.

i know of 2 judges making voxels
Arg does voxels and MG
and you can be shure that MG knows how to do voxels....trust me :D
and you can be lucky that he wasn´t an entrant instead of a judge...since you would shurely have lost with more than 11 points back...(15-20 are very likely)

i´m ok with my voxel hosted on Arg´s Site
one thing that pisses me off is that my voxel was taken as reallife Panzer4 model...as i said more than once that i just wanted to make a RA2-looking one...
but now it´s over and like said before i´m looking forward to the next competiton

Only MG took it as the real-life Panzer voxel. Me and Arg didn't.

I also have to point some thing else that pissed me off! You guys say that I lost points for the turret because I use the hva edit to align it up with the tank.... wtf! That’s how it’s done. Like any one is going to waist there time scaling it on top of the tank when you can just move it up.

You know I wouldn’t be so pissed off if I lost by like 1 or 2 points but by 9 and 11 I mean come on dumb asses! my tank is to god damn nice to be rated that poorly. I add extra detail to my tank because it helps the normals out it you haven’t noticed. Im not to sure any of you have ever made a vxl before.

No need to be rude please.

We're not dumbasses, and turret alignment isn't meant to be done like that. That is one of the reasons the scales are there. There was a discussion about how to do it properly in this very forum...

Your tank is very nice, but wasn't poorly rated. Think about what sort of vxl might get 90% plus, and then work back. 60-70 is a respectable score. 70-80 is extremely competent. It has to be something really special to score above 80 IMO.

Normals and detail are only relevant to each other when one considers whether the details can be normalised. Even 'fake' normals can be used to bring out flat detail.

And you're right; I've never made a vxl in my life, what do I know?

@ Rami
I scored it as 'Accurate' rather than 'Original' because in my books it scored more highly that way. If you consider 'Original', a Pz4 isn't exactly that (irrespective of it's colour scheme)...

I'd like to point out that good vxls are what we're looking for, irrespective of their scheme or style or type.

The three entered were all very good, and I at least was pleased that they were all of such a good quality.

We have to mark these things somehow, some rules/guidelines need to be determined so that all entries are judged in the same way.
If you didn't win (or even if you did), look at the Judges' comments, and try again next time.

I'd like to think of these comps as providing vxllers with a bit of fun, and furnishing the community with high quality vxls. I'd also like to think that such a competition would encourage ppl to get better, try new things, and even get new artists to try their hand and join in.

Mad, the thing that is block on your Abrams is Normals, definitely. The way theyre made isnt correct, and its possibly what threw down the score ( I remember the rating i gave to them). I consider Normals to be the most important aspect of a good looking voxel (of course, besides modelling), so, that could be the thing that threw down most of the score.
Details were a little flooded because of this, and as they arent noticeable, technical competence also went a little down. If you want me to take a look and fix normals, send me the raw model in .max, ill take a look for you, ok?.

For what i could see, i was the hardest judge on score, since as far as i can remember most rates by me were 7-10 points less than MG and Kal. Im too perfectionist.

Rami, AFAICR, Kal makes hand-made voxels. I worked by hand until i started to use 3DS, now all my work is based onto it. Hence my obsession with normals.

Now why does the image of a wrestling match from the WWF come to mind..

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Andre 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
