Yeah, thanks for your irrelevance, smartass. When referring to your nationality, what do you say?

I say "I am English", because I am from England. What does someone from the US say?

Nothing. Whenever they open their mouths, food goes in before words have a chance to come out.

Well obviously, if he were from United States of Mexico he wouldn't be such a twat. People outside of America (yeah, I said it, now whatcha gonna do about it, punk?) tend to have better sense of geography and tend to know other countries, states, unions and places exist, and that theirs is not in any way definitive.

I'm from Chrissendom, but I don't go around calling it the UC because its got multiple counties under the one government. If it doesn't have states, its got provinces, counties, or some other sub-divisional organisation. And if they're not united, they're usually considered another country altogether.

So really, calling it the US is an oxymoron, so when I say "I am English", because I am from England, I guess someone from "the US" could just say "I am a moron?"

Spart, you're officially an idiot.

Rule Eagleland! Eagleland rule the oil waves!
Americans shall not be, but shall certainly keep slaves!

When America first, at hell's command,
Rose up from out the murky seas,
'Twas such a foul, wasteful land,
With murky stench carried 'pon the breeze!

We can't be that big of a moron, we invented the "internets" ;) Besides look at another naming anomaly:
In the nation of Israel lives Jews and they speak Hebrew...don't get me started on that one.

Allow me to explain that one, since you "won't even start". The nation of Israel was named after Jacob, or Israel, one of the Bible's great patriarchs of the Hebrew people. The religion of the Hebrew people was, and still is, Jewish.

It isn't rocket science.

On a related note, what's Dutch for Dutch? Because that doesn't have anything to do with Holland or the Netherlands, whichever name you prefer. Why are you called Dutch?

We're not. We are from the Netherlands, Nederland, and we call ourselves Nederlanders. Some people here refer to the country as Holland (though Holland is only two provinces out of twelve) and those people call themselves Hollanders.

It's you people who call us Dutch for some reason.

So the Dutch for Dutch is Nederlander? Fair enough. Having just looked it up on the OED website, 'Dutch' does, as I suspected, come from the same root as the German 'Deutsch'. The first meaning given is "Of or pertaining to the people of Germany; German; Teutonic. Obs. exc. as a historical archaism, and in some parts of U.S."

You guys are like fake Germans, basically. Linguistically speaking.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Yeah, I know where it comes from, I just didn't want to type up an explanation.

I wouldn't call us linguistically fake Germans, seeing as a large part of the Netherlands was once inhabited by the Germanic tribe.
