Yep.

Looking for opinions on the current setup, maybe even suggestions if you know what you're talking about. I sense a few people calling me nuts or saying its overkill, but oh well. When you see the function for everything, it has a purpose. Might not be overly necessary, but oh well.

As per usual, everything here is subject to change and will be updated accordingly when the time arises. There's images for my gaming/development PC, but none else.

Oh, and a note about the operating systems and some of the software: I'll have a TechNet subscription so I will definitely not be spending thousands on OS and software licenses.

If you can afford a rig like that, I think you can spend twenty bucks more on a graphics card superior to mine.

Looks good, but I have one thing to add - I ended up getting the Define R3 for my build, and you might run into an issue with that fan controller. The front door has essentially no clearance between itself and the drive bays, so with the controller mounted in a 5.25" bay, you won't be able to close the door. Evidently you can mount it offset by 1 or 2 screws inwards which solves the problem, but it's not perfect aesthetically. Other than that, it's a great case.

Nice build. I probably would have dropped the 460 and gone for something more retro i.e. a good old GTX295 like I have which you can pick up in near perfect condition for cheaper than a 460 and will generally school it.

Unless my googlefu is weak, I cannot get a GTX295 for less than a 460. I don't want a 295 anyway; runs too fucking hot and loud, and consumes more power during load and idle. Put simply, fuck that. I'll SLI 460s and be satisfied.

A few more searches later, I can SLI the 460 for less than a 295 and the SLI is better, runs cooler, quieter and more efficiently. Tell me again, why the fuck would I waste $550 on a single card when I can get better performance for nearly $100 less?

Better performance in some circumstances. Many games get ill the moment you try to run them in SLI mode.

I'm not sure i've seen a benchmark that does GTX 460 SLI VS GTX 295 though but i seriously doubt that a GTX 295 could outperform GTX 460 in SLI unless in a really wonky game, Don't forget that the 460 can overclock very well to, has DX11 and has more shaders Per GPU (note that the core the 460 uses isn't fully used and is actually 384 shaders fully unlocked but doesn't use them ATM probably because of TSMC's 40nm issues and Nvidia probably doesn't want it to undercut the GTX 470 aswell since they likely put a LOT of money into GF100).
