The game I'm referring to is the 'Sporcle Countries of the World' game in which you are presented with a blank political map of the world and are given fifteen minutes to type in the names of as many UN-recognized countries as you can. The goal is to get all 195. My record, after several weeks of practice, is 179 countries with three minutes to spare. I missed two in central Africa that I normally get though. It's the islands in Central America and Oceania that detract from my score.

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

100, but I blame my spelling problems on like 5-6 nations..

And playing HoI2\3, EU3 and Vicky2 to much (I would've gotten more on a 1936 map)

'USA' and 'America' don't count as two different countries

I got 135, it's the African and Central American countries that really let me down. And also those two stupid contries near kazakhstan that i can't spell, with their absurd amount of k's, j's and t's

I take it you mean Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan? Yeah, they're pretty complicated.

143/195 first time round, then 157/195. Both times I somehow forgot about Switzerland. And, like most people, it seems, I'm not great on African countries.

Hey, related question: there are four countries in the world that only have one vowel in the name (like Kyrgyzstan, not like Canada). Kyrgyzstan is one. What are the other three? (In case you're wondering, I do know the answer.)
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Chad, Egypt and Cyprus.

On a side note, my record is now 189 out of 195.

That's insane! I didn't even get all of Europe right. However, I'm the first to admit that I really suck at geography. Plus, the weirder the names, the bigger your handicap as a non-native speaker.

And you can't really be native in many countries either

And that's why it sucks (in relation to the game) to be from an easy country (My case, Norway)

I think he was referring to having trouble spelling the English names for the countries rather than not knowing them outright. Plus, you don't really get a more obvious country than America.

Well some countries should be allowed on wrong spelling..

Like Guyana.. I wrote Guiana everytime :p
And the Philliphines..

I mean, when I get points for Burma, which is Myanmar no a'days, I should get some other spellings right..
Hell I even got Estonia wrong, even if I wrote it correct (I checked that one)

Guiana is how the French write it.
That's a nice little game you've stumbled upon, Yarrum. Cheers! I love this kind of thing - I had a Europe one which I played a bit, so at least I can get Europe under my belt, if nowhere else!

First try:
56 out of 195

And mostly it was the African Countries, some Central America, and the (for me) modern areas in Europe (still in the Medieval Era in my head).
Wait... what?

Haha Yes! I got all 195! ;) With less than a minute to go too.

The continental versions are really good for training up, especially for learning all the tiny obscure countries.
