Hey, I have noticed over time that people with windows 7 that have Zero Hour installed, the game has undesired consequenses such as no shellmap, and other compatibility issues with the graphics procceser. Is there a way we can make it more compatible by putting another BIG file in the directory for windows 7 users? Or is there a program that runs the game in a lower quality mode that is supported by zero hour?
i have the same thing
and some time the monitor shut down the i see some dead pixels when it come back
:(

ZH: Hey 7, can you tell me where the vid card is and what its specs are?
W7: *does not compute*
ZH: Yeah.... Hmm...
W7: *does not compute*
ZH: Allright, so there isnt any vid card at all?
W7: *does not compute*

The problem is, that ZH was buiuld in the 32-bits era, when 64-bits pcs didnt exist yet. So, conversation between ZH and windows 7 will go like this:
ZH: Hey 7, can you tell me where the vid card is and what its specs are?
W7: *does not compute*
ZH: Yeah.... Hmm...
W7: *does not compute*
ZH: Allright, so there isnt any vid card at all?
W7: *does not compute*
I see, but can we under-clock the windows 7 system so it is decreased to a 32-bit standard? That would solve it. Do you think it would work?

Btw, this is also the reason why compatibility mode cant be set to 98/95 anymore.

I don't know if it will work. You have to un-install all generals series.

i did it with this way :
I just spent some time reviewing this problem. I'm running windows 7 home edition as well
All you need in the .ini file is the IdealStaticLOD line and the StaticGameLOD line. In fact, if you include all the lines from the post above, you are more likely to end up with an error.
Way to make this thing work on an operating system that tries (unfortunately, cause i kinda like win7) to fight you the whole way:
2. Install DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft.com
3. Disable UAC (User Account Control - Generals/Zero Hour are most likely not compatible with UAC)
4. Right click on iw4mp.exe and im4sp (this works on both) and click the compatibility tab
5. Check all of the following:
1. Run in compatibility mode (i ran it in WinXP w/SP3)
2. Run as Administrator
3. Disable Visual Styles (this disables the aero style of the Vista virus and win7).
6. Save the changes and attempt to run the .exe
PS: i use to run call of duty 4 with bd-rom with daemon tool
