Heres my early version of Tolfalas - no textures just terrain and start location placements.

You might want to increase the size?
I wouldn't like being immediate neighbors of my enemies, so that when they build one catapult, it can destroy my walls without having to come out of their camp (exaggerated, I know, but you get the point.)

Perhaps this would be better as a two, maybe three player map?
If the above post offended you in any way,
please take note that, until further notice, I don't care, so get lost.

Cool! If you're going to add shrubbery and trees; only add a few, since Tolfalas is a desolate rocky island off of Belfalas. You can refer to the Encyclopedia of Arda or the Lotr Tolkien Wiki.
Thx.

Lol - Im notorious for showing maps at all stages of developement. I like the feedback at each stage because people can often think of something I didnt and I can revise without gutting the map.

At this point the map is 600 x600. so going bigger isnt possible, however depending on how the map progresses I may or may not keep it at 5 players. Its something Ill consider once it gets completed and beta tested.

Thanks for the tip - I always enjoy getting good information on terrain, features etc of any place im trying to create. So keep em coming.

Well in SEE your enemies wont go spam you immediatly so I believe how close they are to each other isnt a problem. You could also add lil islands around the big one. :)

Its true that SEE has really long build times, it would be unlikely that someone could raid you rather quickly using a catapult. Though thats why we -test ,test ,test.
Hmm little islands, maybe just few looking like rock justting out of the water - could be cool.

Looks pretty good so far. Are there going to be any tech buildings on the island? That could make for some interesting strategies if they were in the middle, since most of the squabbling would be in the center, opening things up for some raids to the sides of bases, and, and... *runs out of air* Well, you understand what I'm getting at, right? ;)

I bet Tolkien's thinking: "Boy, that's how I would exactly envision it." ;) Cool man, just add the shipwrights and some more rocks and shrubbery okay?
Btw, the mountainous tone is perfecto:)
Thx

Making Tolfalas was one of my favourites - just simple, natural and detailed.

Thanks puppet, good to see you around. You'll notice I used a similar texture scheme. Your version is just too good to not take inspiration from it.

Gah. This looks great. You're making me want to do some mapping myself.

As to your question - there is no recorded habitation of the island of Tolfalas, but I don't think that people wouldn't have lived there if they'd had the chance. Sitting at the mouth of the Anduin would make it very fertile and easy to farm and fish from all of the sediment dumped off there by the river. Some nice little fishing villages would be fine.

Yeah I can confirm what youve said. Seems tolfalas was wiped out with the drowning of beleriand. it had some inhabitants along the way after the drowning, but remained mostly uninhabited until the 4th age.

This might be a bit too big of a fishing village

No. Lol. I planned to put small villages next to all the docks. That'd make 5 small villages. So I gotta dial back the quantity to keep inline with the lore.
