...Seriously though, something does need to change. I see homosexuality as a mental disorder. And like anyone with a mental disorder, we should be tolerant and accepting. Of course you wouldn't let a mentally incapable person join the military, but I'm sure you get my point.
That is a bit extreme to say the least. Delusion might have been a better choice of words but then you'd have to make sure to put it in the same category as religious people. Still, you are over-generalizing like hell.
Still, it sort of reminded me of this George Takei youtube video that I was shown last week, quite hilarious and it should be heeded wisely by all:
I'm of the devils-advocate opinion that Sexuality is 95% cultural/personal choice and 5% (or less) inheritance. I don't like the argument that "its how we were born" and put all the blame for sexual preferences on the genes. Its a bit like religious people claiming the earth is only 6000 years old; little bit too faith-based. People have to admit that their sexual orientation is a long chain of events that have brought their personality to a point where they get their rocks off to certain preferences. It is not set in stone and it is not something that never evolve or change.
That does not mean that your sexual preferences should be anyone's business beyond the one(s) you are doing it with. Who the hell has the right to look down upon someone who beyond their private preferences are decent and hard-working human beings?
The main problem that male homosexuals have in western society is probably the many stereotypes we got, here we have one, luckily that scene also has a pretty damn awesome subversion with Willem Defoe lampshading it like hell. How many male homosexuals act like the flaming homosexual?? I would bet 2-10% or something. Here we have a fine list of all the typical TV stereotypes
Once people get over the freaking Stereotypes(like we got over the jew being a big-nosed moneygrabber and christmurder, right? right??), they should get off their high horse and treat them as human beings.

I have nothing against homosexuals.
...I tried to save myself from having to post an explanatory reply, but I should not have relied so much on your common sense, and your ability to comprehend what it is that you're reading. I am sorry.

Allow me to reply. I may not be gay, but I am bisexual and there is nothing wrong with my head. I do not have a mental handicap that prevents me from being a functioning member of society. Who people like to fuck has absolutely no bearing on their ability to be a productive member of society, which does not preclude serving in the military. The very fact that you would even consider this as a mental disorder is rather disturbing. You all missed my point. I was afraid of that. Let me be more clear. Homosexuality is a mental disorder, it means your mind doesn't work right. But don't get me wrong, I would have no problem serving in the military with gay people. It isn't a severe mental disorder, it doesn't handicap you in any way.

your definition of mental disorder ignores the first part: it has to be subjectively detrimental to the person afflicted. A mental disorder is when a trait becomes harmful to oneself and others. Psychosis, self-hurting, extreme delusions (Like God gives you 72 virgins if you blow yourself up). You can't say Homosexuality is anywhere near those things.A mental disorder or mental illness is a psychological or behavioral pattern generally associated with subjective distress or disability that occurs in an individual, and which are not a part of normal development or culture
Character/personality trait would have been better words to use, as it doesn't imply that there is something that needs fixing. The military wouldn't want a person with the "AWMAHGAD I BROKE A NAIL!" or "I CAN'T USE HIGH HEELS DURING TRAINING!?" traits, but that does not mean that those that have those traits should be locked up.

Except religious people have the right to choose their religion - they made a conscious decision, and they can proselytize as many times as they want. Gays can do nothing of the sort.Delusion might have been a better choice of words but then you'd have to make sure to put it in the same category as religious people.
Define 'right'. Face it, your definition of 'right' is purely consensus of a heterosexual majority - you have no solid basis for your frankly patronising judgement.Homosexuality is a mental disorder, it means your mind doesn't work right

You all make good points, but I was just stating my opinion. I could not possibly care any less if you agreed with me.
Alright, my train of thought, however elementary it may seem, is this. Living beings mate to reproduce. Humans however have taken to mating as a source of pleasure, as well as to reproduce. Homosexuals cannot reproduce, therefore there is nothing in our instincts that tell us that we should mate with the same sex. It is a matter of choice. Meaning that no one is bound to be gay.
"Mental disorder" may not have been quite correct. But I stand by my opinion that Gays are messed up in the head. Sorry if I offend, I don't mean to. This is only my opinion.
...When did I say that gays can't function in society? I made a comment directly to the contrary. I know gays aren't weird or incapable...
Anyway, I personally know someone who's bisexual. She's a great person, and she introduced me to a guy that's gay. Of course, at the time i was younger and still had the pre-teen mentality, so I thought he was weird, but looking back, I realize he was an ok guy.

I'm atheist.
I can see where you're coming from though.
...And when I said something needs to change, I meant Homosexuals should be allowed to serve openly in the military.

Christian?! Hell no!
I'm atheist.
That makes it worse. As a Christian, at least you'd have some excuse in the fact you've been raised in misconception.

Or...maybe you think I'm misguided because you assume I think sex is only for reproduction, like an avid Christian would? So your point of view on gays is not that they think it's "right", only that they think it would provide more pleasure than to mate heterosexually?
Well...Hell! I'm all for, sex for pleasure! LMAO
I just don't see where it clicks in peoples heads that fucking another guy/girl is..."better".

Do you have a preference in women? Do you like black girls, white girls, fat girls, goth girls, girls with issues, girls with big boobs, stupid girls, smart girls? If you picked any of the above that means you are in entirely the same boat as gay men and women. The only difference is that their preference is not the same as yours. If you're "all for sex for pleasure" that means you must appreciate that some types of sexual partner are preferable, and thus more pleasurable, than others. That's all there is to homosexuality. Or heterosexuality. Or any kind of sexual orientation.

Explain to me how I've been raised in misconception.
Okay.
Do you think it's "normal" for a guy to poke another guy? Where is the point and/or reason behind that, apart from pure pleasure in the mind of a homosexual?
What's with the brackets around the word normal? Yes, I do think it's normal for two people of the same gender to be in love, to be attracted to one another, to want to be together, et cetera. The fact you think that love, be it gay or straight love, is solely about sex, is disturbing.
Or...maybe you think I'm misguided because you assume I think sex is only for reproduction, like an avid Christian would? So your point of view on gays is not that they think it's "right", only that they think it would provide more pleasure than to mate heterosexually?
I'm sorry what? I don't even know what you're trying to say here. What am I assuming? You've made it pretty clear that the only normal, sane sex to you is based on the desire to reproduce. That's the issue here, isn't it? That you think homosexuals are crazies because they have sex in a way that won't provide them with any offspring? As for my "point of view" concerning "gays", by which I assume you mean nothing beyond carnal pleasure, I don't give a damn about who fucks who, as I don't judge people based on what goes where in their bedrooms. And in the case you were asking in a broader sense, my point of view concerning love is that it's a personal thing between two people, and they are free to love whoever they wish. Gender is not relevant. There is more to life and love than the instinct of reproduction. We are human beings, the one thing that sets us apart from most other animals is how we are capable of thought beyond the instinctual. I know this might be scary to you, accepting there is more to making the world turn than the pulsing of your dick, but there you go.
Well...Hell! I'm all for, sex for pleasure! LMAO
I just don't see where it clicks in peoples heads that fucking another guy/girl is..."better".
Personal preference. Just because YOU don't want something, doesn't mean there is no way other people might want it anyway.
The way you phrase things, I get the feeling anybody who can't/won't/isn't interested in having kids might as well kill themselves because clearly there is nothing more to life than that.

Should I be mad if a black comedian makes fun of the way I dance? Nawwww, because I'll be dancing funny all the way to the bank. See we can all make fun of each other without taking it personal. People take shit WAY too serious these days. Whatever happened to choose your battles?
