As some of you might now, the Balrog was the first thing I ever modded in what later became SEE. Thus the model is special to me :p Finally I got the time to fiddle around with RenX to locate all the bones, and then attached tons of fire and smoke FX to the most suitable places in the balrog body, excluding head, hands and wings - to make them stick out most of the time, from all the thick smoke =) I'm pretty happy with the result... ;)

It looks bloody beastly. :p

Very nice, but I would have slightly less smoke. I suppose how it is now is true to the movies, but I would like to see more of the balrog, and less of him enshrouded in smoke...

Well personally I think he looks scary as hell like he is.... Is there a way to make him less smokey when ignited... That fits real well with the lore and what is seen onscreen. Since in the books the balrog is described as shrouded in shadow and it wasnt until it faced gandalf that it revealed its firey nature, by igniting itself.

Less smokey? Well I wanted him smokey ;) Just look at the scene by the bridge... he's covered in smoke =)
EDIT: Oh now I get it... you mean that he should be smokey always except when ignited? Well I made it the other way around... he ignites and gets covered in smoke as the flames reach higher and thicker... I thought it would be more realistic :p

Nope, nada! I tried it with two balrogs even and loads of little gobbos running from them (Balrog is causing permanent fear now to all but heroes)

EDIT: Just played with him- Nicely done and buttery smooth. Id still like a little smoke on him though when not ignited. It really does make him look sweet though when hes ignited. Shadow and flame.... weeeeeeee

Yeah I'll consider adding some lighter form of smoke even when he's not in ignite =) Actually there IS some light smoke fx there, but EA chose a very very subtle one. It's hardly noticeable...

Well, I'm back after a long time. The new smoke fx on the Balrog is, Idk, PERFECT!!! :p This really brings out the fact that the Balrog was a demonic creature.
It's also good that it doesn't lag (even though the gameplay on my system hasn't lagged at all and I'm using Ultra High ;))

The screens look amazing, but don't you think the smoke particles are a little too dark overall?
I've done something similar for my Balrog some time ago, and I used a particle that gives you a better impression of the heat wafts surrounding the demon while ignited. At least, in my opinion. :thumbsupsmiley:

It all appears a bit static on the image, in real time the orange glow is pulsating very naturally. :evgr:
