repair drone

The game progresses, we are both level 2 and now the cyber general starts pushing mixed groups of cyborgs, missle cyborgs, guardian droids and repair droids. Without an extended amount of micro management, I am unable to stop these attacks. The repair droid cleans up all mine fields and demo traps, while getting fired on incessantly by my stinger sites (with quad upgrades). So the rest of the units are free to attack my stinger sites unscathed.
Meanwhile, the repair droid does not get damaged, even while taking heavy fire from 2 sites.
The only way to destroy the repair droid seems to be with terrorists on bikes, cockroaches in kamikazee mode or a stealth rebel nearby that can tag a bomb on the droid. This is excessively difficult and requires significant micro-management.
That leads me to believe that I am missing something. What is the intended counter move for the demo general to mixed groups of droids?

To counter this....
- Place Defense site with AT gun upgrade behind the minefield
- Stealth Terrorist is a good choice since Cyber Gen has only short range detector unit (let them move toward your terrorist)
- Demo Trap is sometimes more useful than minefield (Repair Droid usually overshoots the safe radius and got blown up afterward)
- Use Mortar Buggy strafing to kill cyborgs and use RPG troopers vs Droids
- You can also Terror rush him (Technical + 5 Terrorists attacking his supply early) to gain early advantage (and put him on defensive)
Check strategy topic (post #10 & 11) for more detail.

sir im playing the challenge mod of Contra 007..when i reached the boss general, i can't build the propaganda center because it doesn't level up or let me say don't have a general promotion. Is this natural in the game or is this a bug??? But still Contra really rocks!!!!! waiting for a quick response..thanks!!!
Contra 007 doesnt have challenge, the Fix or Patch that you downloaded for it wont enable challenge properly. You must wait 008 version to play Challenge.

Please note that all combat droid have TANK armor. So, shooting it with Quad (which has AA damage type) would be using wrong weapon against it.
Casojin, thanks for the reply, like you suggest, I was thinking to use demo traps more aggressively, it's just that there is a money factor that I think is still not fair, especially against someone who moves the droids smartly. However, the RPG troopers are also a good idea I am yet to try and so there must be some sweet spot there I just have to find.
Now I am very interested to hear more about the armor aspect that you mention: so there is a different armor, or different points for armor on tanks than on other units where quad cannons have less of an effect?
Can you or someone just explain the technical details of armor to me? I think that will help me understand how else to counter the droid attacks.

Armor type is C&C mechanic for a long time to make the game more balance. Armor type and damage type would determine the amount of damage inflicted on any unit (by multiplying % factor to damage amount the weapon deals). You have to use specific damage type against specific armor to be fully effective. Contra makes them even more specific (so, you need specific unit to deal with a certain type of unit and there is no all-in-one combat unit).Casojin, thanks for the reply, like you suggest, I was thinking to use demo traps more aggressively, it's just that there is a money factor that I think is still not fair, especially against someone who moves the droids smartly. Here are some example...(it's just example not actual value)
Armor Piercing
80% vs Tank armor
100% vs Vehicle armor
10% vs Infantry armor
Small Arms
1% vs Tank armor
30% vs Vehicle armor
100% vs Infantry armor
High Explosive (Artillery/Mines/Nuke Blast)
70% vs Tank armor
90% vs Vehicle armor
100% vs Infantry armor
And so on.....
There are actually more armor type and damage type (there is entire INI file that define armor value with hundreds lines of code). There are many more damage types (flame, radiation, poison, gattling, etc...) and armor (droid, tank, drone aircraft, aircraft, etc...) to make variety of units like in Contra.

- Place Defense site with AT gun upgrade behind the minefield
Just wanted to report back that this was the solution. Once I had some AT sites, the drones were stopped.
Also, thanks much for the .ini file idea, I have been studying.
