I used to play Remix .73 on my ancient Pentium 4, Radeon 9800 pro machine with windows XP, and it worked just fine, even if I played with 2 or even 3 AI. But I just got a new machine: Phenom II x4 @3.8ghz (very stable), Radeon 6850, clean install of win7 x64, etc... and just installed generals and remix. Worked beautifully. I decided to try a sort of comp stomp map I made a while ago. No trees, no water, no huge map sizes, and no blended textures, as the map was made to work on my old machine. But when I tried to play against 3 tank generals, my game started lagging like crazy after the tank gens built thier bases. The game would freeze every few seconds, and when the tanks started rolling out, the short pauses would turn into long ones. I'm only playing at 1360x768, and turning the detail down didn't seem to help the problem much :(

I know most older games usually use 1 core, but one 3.8ghz core should be fast enough for generals. Yet going from a 2.8ghz pentium 4 to a 3.8ghz quad core didn't seem to help much, knowing that the HD6850 is infinitely better than the ancient 9800. I guess this sort of lag is unavoidable with Pend's terrifying tank general AI, but am I missing any sort of performance tweak I need? Or will 3 tank gens lag any machine out there?

It is the AI. Tank general causes the worst lag by far, Demo creates almost none. I figured out what was causing it and will be working hard to avoid it in future releases.

I can read lol. But as he sad demo is useing ai too :)

It's a handful of specific scripts in the AI. When tank general is building his base he runs out of locations the AI considers acceptable to build in. This causes the worst of the lag stutters.

lol man just read :) go to BETA 0.75 BUGS topic for more details...
