February 1st Update: New Mordor Units

This week, we check out the bunch of new units that Mordor gets with this update. Only Variags can be built without the Dark Tower though, you'll have to wait until the late game to see Sauron's other new toys on the field.

Replacing Soldiers of Rhun in the Level 2 Haradrim Palace, these tough axemen can go toe-to-toe with most infantry and have the added benefit of being lethal to trampling cavalry. They are however quite weak against archers. At Level 2, they can Sprint for a brief period to catch up with slower foes.

Soldiers of Rhun (revised)

Hailing from Rhun, these hardy troops carry halberds and can form a powerful anticavalry formation, giving Mordor great late-game defenses against cavalry. They can only be built when the Dark Tower has been constructed. Can combine with Archers of Rhun.

Archers of Rhun

Archers from the East have longer range than other Mordor units and better armour and health, but cannot receive the Fire Arrows upgrade. They can only be built when the Dark Tower has been constructed. Can combine with Soldiers of Rhun.

Orcs of Morgul

Stronger than normal Orcs, the legions of Morgul are better armed and armoured than the usual Orcish cannon fodder Sauron uses to weaken enemy defenses. They're not free, but are still cheap and most importantly, are still affected by the Call the Horde bonus. They can only be built when the Dark Tower has been constructed. Can combine with Morgul Archers.

Morgul Archers have better range and armour than you run of the mill Orc Archers, and can still get Fire Arrows as well. They are more expensive, but still get a build speed bonus from Call the Horde. They can only be built when the Dark Tower has been constructed. Can combine with Morgul Orcs.

those are really cool...
couple questions...
Morgul archers....what do they have for a weapon...(crossbow, bow) i cant see directly in the pic...

same with the soldiers of Rhun....

i think throwing axes....can see for sure


and one last thing....could you make a tuorial on how you made that armor for the gondorian spearmen???
(i now they weren't the purpose of this post but i liked them!

It's nice to see the classic RA-Morgulorcs "re-used", although it's more like a second chance. I always loved their design.

I didn't make them, they were done by an older team member. So no, I can't make a tutorial. Read this if you're keen.

As far as I can count, then Mordor (Rhûn or Harad) doesn't have any cavalry (except some Black Riders).

Mordor Spellbook Update II hasn't appeared on the main site either... it's an issue with Masternews and the IPB 3 upgrade.

The Dwarf Holds one of the best mods.
Dark Tower is cool and beautiful! ;)
But to continue to Isengard and Rohan and Gondor and Dwarf new tower?
New units heard example tower of Dol Amorth House, Normal Rohan Royal Guard, Eilte Uruk and more.
Good but strange new spells called "Light Tower" hear out. :good:
New units or finished? :p

Well , that's very good news ! I'm really impressed by the work had been achieved so far ! even if RA has been cancelled , TDH keeps up in the right way ! you're implementing news units , heroes , powers for the old factions , how do you manage to make that ? Moreover , all your work is being done carefully !

Actually no, you voiced the Black Uruks :p The Morgul units currently use the regular orc/orc archer audio, which i think will probably do fine.

I made a promise to myself that I would postpone installing BFME1 again until this mod came out, but lately, I'm having difficulties in waiting, having this desire to kick ass with dwarves in the mod so far :-p

bottom line is: I am eagerly waiting! =D

are there eventually going to be campaign changes if so i would suggest adding some of the new maps as territories how much material from the Rhovianian allience going to be used for the mod

If there are campaign changes, they'll come in the distant future. On a side note, are you guys planning any enhancements for the good factions?
