The thread for awesome movies you've "recently" seen that deserves sharing.

I just watched Summer Wars yesterday, a Slice-of-life/social-web/save-the-world movie. This trailer is nothing like the movie(strange japanese trailer format on it), but it shows off the animation and setting so that is acceptable(slight spoilers though,).

New rule: you can promote trailers for movies that look awesome. If they suck then at least the trailer was good :p

New Suckerpunch trailer. I suspect that this movie either becomes idiotic when stretched out or even more epic than what the trailers claim it to be.

Holy crap, I am so going to see that. I suspect it will be epically awesome beyond all reason, even if it's not actually a particularly good film, but I'm a fan of a good action sequence, and Zack Snyder really knows how to put them together.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Go with it was mentioned to be one of the generic romantic turkeys, so I find it strange to put it in the same box as the kings speech :thumbsupsmiley:

Was that a genuine question or testing our knowledge of trivia?
If it's the latter, I had no bloody clue, but I'd love to watch that film. Good find!
If it's the former, then I just checked the Youtube description:
Spoiler

It was a genuine question - I didn't think to check the description until after I posted here. I've got a good feeling that I'll be checking those films out very soon, though!

May I ask a question?

Did anyone see The Eagle that came out recently? I didn't get to see it, and I was wondering if it was good. I really don't want to be disappointed by it :p

I wanted to go see it, and made plans to go see it, but got denied because it didn't stay in theaters for very long. Hitting up Netflix immediately once it comes out, though.

In other news, the Summer of Nerd is nearly upon us as this IGN article states. I vote that we get a reviews thread up to talk about all of the awesome soon to commence.

the names are okay, but I don't really feel anything for most of these movies. They'll be easily forgettable I fear.

Just saw Tron Legacy though, overall it hit right home in my spiritual-bone, which is where the best nerd-movies usually hit. The story was a bit meh, but I wouldn't mind a sequel. Oh and the music is beyond comparison

I'm going to reserve any judgement besides that I'm anticipating most of them until I've seen them. As for Tron Legacy, I felt the same - I really enjoyed it.

Saw it, and it was pretty entertaining, nothing great however. It has some great location shots. Not a 'omgwtfmustsee' movie, but definately worth my 8 euros :)
It has been reported that some victims of rape, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not WAKE UP. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they weren't being raped. The only way that they realized they needed to WAKE UP was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to WAKE UP. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and PLEASE WAKE UP

Re: Sucker Punch...

How the fuck have I not noticed this film before? It's been out how long and I haven't even seen a trailer for this thing?! :O

EDIT: Just watched it...to be fair, they basically just took some awesome crazy-ass fight scenes and then tried to wrap the most fucked-up pointless plot I've ever seen around it. I mean dude, wtf?

They could've saved so much effort there...

Most of you won't agree, but Fast Five was awesome. Everything was over the top and crazy that it translated into fun times.
