Levitation pad versus airfield

Just wondering what I am missing here: I am playing the Airforce General and I can build either the Levitation Pad or the Airfield. Both cost the same money, have the same prerequesites, but the Airfield doesn't have the ability to purchase the upgrades for the AC-150 helicopter.
Also, it seems that with simultaneous take-off and landing, the Levitation Pad is faster in servicing planes than the Airfield?
Finally, the Levitation Pad is physically smaller, so I can fit more of them in the same space.
This in my mind renders the airfield completely obsolete. So can someone tell me a good reason why I should ever need to build it?

I found one possible advantage, although it's not of particular use to me since I micro-manage my planes enough to where I don't have 5 planes hit the same target anyway:

"There is airfield with sequential launch. It increases effectiveness of Attack Move and Guard modes. You can select all your planes and order to attack move. They will take off one after another and destroy targets one after another. It prevents simultaneous attack at one target."

Sequencial launch = nice for setting planes to guard above enemy base. Launch all together = 1 target. Its useful for when you have airplanes that you do not want to micro, thus as units that are elligible to take out anything. But you can see for yourself, I found normal airfield quite useless, except for helicopters.

It's all said in there but in 008 there would be only Lev Pad.

i use the levitation pads for ground attacks and the airfield for anti-air planes
