Free your mind from earthly bonds here. Our brains are tricked for some portion of a third of our lives. Sleep. Dreams. If our brains are so easily fooled, does this not open the door to numerous possibilties. Could our "real" lives be nothing more than a pure simulation, could dreams or Deja vu open the door to other realities and simulations, could our actual subconsious be giving us hints to these things and we not even realize it?

The brain ain’t all that mysterious.
When the brain is awake it is taking in its surroundings and new brain entries are taking place. When the brain is at rest (so to speak), some new stuff is going on but the brain is still full of energy and mulling over the stuff that already happened.
The brain has a book full of things that have happened, some good, and some bad.
When the brain is at rest and not much is happening around it, it can take old things and create new ones.
Some of the new ones seem so real that you wish they would continue. Some (like falling off a cliff) leave you grateful it was just a dream.
If anything useful was to happen while asleep we’d all be wizards.

The brain ain't going to let anything bad happen to you in a dream.
The brain will take in everything that went on during the pain of childbirth but you will never have a dream like that. Good thing, too. I certainly would not be around today if it could

I've just been researching the brain and dreams for a long time and i'm just out of the box thinking. If the brain can be fooled into thinking something is real, who says anything is even real... Think about it even though it conflicts with personal beliefs and most religion. And I know it's a bunch of what Ifs, but a very interesting set of what ifs.

You might be walking down a street in a dream but it won’t be exactly like any street you’ve ever walked. The brain retains every sense you’ve ever had but it will not play it back exactly. Imagine how difficult it would be to go to sleep knowing that you may have the dream of banging your finger with a hammer, including the pain.
A dream can create the sensations of the approach of pain and get you to sweating and your heart pounding but that is as far as it will go. A dream will never fool you into thinking it is a reality. Now, the conscience mind can fool you into a dream like world and make you crazy, but a dream can’t.
