This game takes place inside a forum. The forum is full of people. However, some of these people do not have good intentions. They're hackers in disguise. The hackers want control of the forum, so they hack out everyone until they are the majority.
The people of this forum can choose to ban someone from the forum however, by voting.
The People will win when all hackers are gone.
The hackers will win if they equal or outnumber the People
There also might or might not be a third party involved within the group. No one knows who they are, or what there intentions are.
The game is broken up into two phases: a Day phase and a Night phase.
During the day, everyone talks and tries to build cases against each other. While the People are arguing to try and find the Hackers, the Hackers are trying to throw everyone off their trail. All of these people will vote for who they want to be lynched and the person with the most votes will be banned at the end of the day.
If a majority vote of over 50% is cast on one person, then they will be banned right then and there, and the day will end immediately. This is referred to as the hammer.
When a person is banned, everyone will find out its role and what that person was doing.
During the night, the Hackers will meet with each other and decide to try and hack someone out. However, certain people in all three sides have special roles they can use during the night to kill, protect, disrupt, or gather information. Some roles carry a certain risk while others give a little more freedom. When the day begins, everyone will see who has been hacked and what role they had.
So, any other rules or information we should know?
Each day every player will get a chance to vote for who they believe is one of the scum. Your vote should be in this format:
##Vote PlayerName
If you decide to change your vote, you must first ##unvote (player name not required but is helpful). If you do not want a lynch to happen, you must ##vote nolynch, and it must have the most votes at the end of the day or be hammered. I won't be too picky on playername spelling but you MUST bold your votes to make it easier for me to see them. I will periodically make a note of who is voting for who during the day.
Day phases will last 48 hours or until the hammer falls (51% of the town votes for the same option), night phases will last a minimum of 24 hours. Day to night transition will happen at 12 Noon EST (-5 GMT).
If you have a night action and do not inform me by PM at least an hour before the next day phase begins what you are doing with it, you do nothing that night.
If you are not in the game, please DO NOT post in the thread once the game has started.
If you are in the game:
DO NOT discuss the game outside of the thread unless you are specifically given permission by me.
DO NOT quote private mod communications.
DO NOT attempt to break the game. No trying to get people to make toxx clauses, encryption, or fake day actions. Basically, if you're about to post something you're a little too proud of as a way of breaking the game, think twice before posting.
DO NOT edit your posts for any reason once the game has started. This can break the game.
If you are in the game, breaking one of the above rules can and will lead to a mod kill. Mod kills are not fun. Mod kills can break the game. I don't want to have to mod kill. So don't make me do it.
One more thing: Don't drag drama from this mafia game anywhere else. It's just a game.

A chatroom style Mafia game known as Epicmafia Playing Epicmafia may or may not help you better understand Mafia, but do note that Epicmafia and Forum Mafia are totally different beasts. Forum Mafia games can last two or three weeks or more. Epicmafia games last around 15 to 20 minutes.
