I've been working on moving my changes from my INI.big file to a preconverted INI and I noticed that there are balance patch differences when comparing my May 2009 INI to the latest RotWK INI.big to identify differences.

How will this impact my -mod when made public if I decide to stick with my INI.big file and run the Macro converter?

PS-I believe my INI has the 1.02 update.

So you would be using the older balance updates? or the newer? Newer USUALLY is more balanced than older updates.

Would people still be able to play my -mod if I never installed the latest update?

The majority of people (probably all) use the latest patch for any BfME game.
To use a mod, your game must be patched the same way ;)

I had to do this once .. a pain in the %$#%$
you have the use the -mod command with the latest patched INI

and then add , bit by bit , your changes

the Balance issues will show in mainly weapon strength , armor and Health

And a few commandbuttons / commandsets and labels strings may require attention

Really should not take too long as its just a bunch of copy/pasting

I remember reading a post of yours on exactly this, I think with Ridder, but I couldn't find it and had to post.

Did you use WinMerge or another SCS? I keep getting errors when copying/pasting into the pre-converted INI such as, 'missing value Commandbutton = expected value, line 1'. But then there isn't a line 1 commandbutton and searching for missing values reveals nothing. Did you have this issue?

I Patched the Mod to the full version and used the INI from the game

I did not see the need to have ALL the macros as Gamedata as I'll probably only need to change a few

I then made my own Macros as needed and saved in default/ water.ini

I listed all the Heroes and buildings I had changed and added the new changes one by one

Hope this helps ...
