Here is the new GDI Silo.

The silo is traditionally famed for being very useful in campaign missions ( stealing full enemy silos is a favourite! ), and conversely being fairly useless in PvP matches.

One of the rarest occurrences in C&C3 modding is me actually completing a model from scratch ( start from a blank Max screen and finish up with a fully coded unit\structure ). I based this Silo of a Tiberian Sun concept art that I liked the look of ( and that was within my skill range! ), hardcore Tiberian Sun fans probably already recognise it, if not then have another look.

Hmm, the glass could do with looking a bit thicker, perhaps with stronger support around the edges. I'd also even remove the base and just add a metallic strip linking the pipe to the storage area.

Good job as usual though.

Interesting comments.
I am only mildly pleased with the glass. Because of the shader that I am forced to use I do not have the same kind of control over the specular that I am used too.

The frame does also look exceedingly thin, the only comfort is that the structure is has weak has you'd expect, and the glass cracks and then shatters with battle damage ( a pipe section also falls off causing a leak in typical C&C3 fashion).

Has for the base, after completing the texture, I thought about what it would have been like without it However I'd already committed the unwrapped texture space and I was determined not to start again. If I were to start over I would not bother with the base, and I'd simply use a lower texture resolution with the space saved.

Thanks for your comments.
